A lodge rich in history
Originally opened in 1924 as a maternity hospital, the building was later purchased by the Main family.
In 1992, Ron and Jamie were approached by the local council and asked if they would consider converting the existing building into a Rest Home.
The building, having been vacant for many years was in a terrible state of disrepair. Its former glory was nearly unrecognisable. On initial inspection along with the Mayor and local councillors, Ron and Jamie were confronted with a daunting task and almost declined.
However, given Ron was born in the original maternity hospital he was especially fond of the building and the grand restoration project was accepted.
