This time of transition from one year to the next naturally invites reflection on where we’ve been and how we’ve grown. Most of us have had our share of ups and downs, triumphs and tribulations, new beginnings and closures. It’s all part of being human. As we prepare to step into the new year, it’s an ideal moment to consider what we’re ready to let go.
Releasing the old creates space for the new. Beliefs, relations, habits – it’s all fair game. Aromatic allies have long been used to support this process, many with deep roots in perfumery, hygiene, and spiritual practice. From ancient incense and anointing oils to modern fragrance and body care formulations, botanical aromas have helped cleanse and revitalize both body and spirit. Let’s take a closer look at a few tried-and-true favorites.
🪵Sandalwood🪵
Tree oils are associated with both the root and crown chakras, helping us stay grounded while also reaching upward and continuing to grow. The warm, soft aroma of Sandalwood, Australian - supports deep contemplation, encouraging us to let go of mental noise, soften resistance, and enjoy the present moment.
🌾Vetiver🌾
Roots like Vetiver bring stability and nourishment to plants, anchoring them with resilience and balance. The tranquil, earthy aroma of Vetiver can help foster a sense of peaceful centeredness and inner strength as we work through life’s challenges and transitions.
🌸Geranium🌸
Limiting beliefs, anger, and frustration are no match for Geranium. The harmonizing floral aroma of Geranium can help us slow down, cool off, and restore balance. Geranium supports healthy boundaries while we come back to our true selves, encouraging forgiveness and the release of patterns that keep us feeling small.
🌼Neroli🌼
Flowers are often associated with the heart and navel chakras, reminding us of the importance of self-love, compassion, and emotional openness. Neroli's floral aroma offers comfort to the spirit during times of grief or change, helping us release attachments and reconnect with unconditional love.
🩷Pink Peppercorn🩷
Seeds hold the promise of new beginnings while carrying a nurturing, strengthening energy. Pink Peppercorn’s fresh, spicy aroma can help cut through stuck energy, invigorate the spirit, and spark inspiration, especially when forward momentum is needed.
🍊Blood Orange🍊
Life is juicy! The sweet, tangy aroma of Blood Orange brings lightness and positivity, helping us adapt to changes with ease. When motivation wanes, Orange helps get our energy flowing and offers a joyful reminder of the sweetness life has to offer.
Using Aromatherapy to Release and Renew
These essential oils will mix and match well together, so feel free to experiment by creating your own blend of two or more.
