This is one of the biggest myths in massage 👇

A lot of people think:
👉 “The deeper it is… the more tension it releases”

But that’s not actually how the body works.

Here’s the truth:

Your muscles don’t just “let go” because they’re forced to.
They relax when your nervous system feels safe enough to switch off.

🚫 Too much pressure?
Your body can actually do the opposite…
→ tighten up
→ guard
→ resist the treatment
→ Increase cortisol

✅ The right pressure?
→ allows the muscle to soften
→ improves circulation
→ creates a longer-lasting release

That “hurts so good” feeling is fine…
But if you’re holding your breath or bracing? That’s your body saying 🚩

This is something I get asked a lot… and the answer is a really interesting one 👇

👉 Not directly — but it definitely plays a role

Muscle “knots” usually develop from things like:
🎯Repetitive movement
🎯Posture (hello phones, desks 👀)
🎯Stress and tension
🎯Previous injuries

💦 Hydration is another piece of that puzzle.

When your body is low on fluids:
❌ Muscles can feel tighter
❌ Blood flow through the tissue is less efficient
❌ Waste products don’t clear as easily
❌ Areas of tension can start to build up

When hydration is more consistent:
✅ Muscles tend to move/respond more freely
✅ Circulation clears waste efficiently
✅Tight areas can release more easily
✅Massage feels smoother and more effective

✨ It’s not about being perfect or “doing something wrong”—it’s just about understanding how to support your body in simple ways.
