💚 We’d like to introduce Debbie Apera, our Facility Manager at Allen Bryant.

Originally from sunny Nelson, Debbie has been with us since 2010. She began her journey as a Caregiver, moved into an Administrator role, and now proudly leads the team at Allen Bryant. With qualifications in Social Work, Aged Care, and Dementia, Debbie brings extensive experience and a genuine passion for working with people.

Her background in the disability sector, including leadership roles, has shaped her strong commitment to elderly and dementia care. Debbie is dedicated to making sure residents feel happy, comfortable, and well supported, and she values the close-knit community that makes Allen Bryant such a special place.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren — something that perfectly reflects her caring, family-focused nature.

☀️ Recently, Cambridge Oakdale residents, friends, and whānau came together for a delicious BBQ lunch, cooked on the grill by one of our residents and our maintenance team, with tasty sides prepared by our amazing kitchen staff. The tables looked beautiful, with flower arrangements lovingly made by residents.

The afternoon continued with relaxed summer entertainment from the local Riverside Ukulele Club – Jolly Jammers, before rounding off the day with a lovely afternoon tea. A great example of community, connection and shared moments at Oakdale.

🚂 Some of our Alden residents enjoyed a wonderful day out, taking a trip on the Goldfields Railway from Waihi to Waikino through the beautiful Karangahake Gorge.

Riding the more than 100-year-old train brought back plenty of memories, and enjoying a delicious picnic lunch from the Waikino Station Café while on board made the experience even more special. It was a lovely chance to reminisce about train journeys from years gone by and enjoy a relaxed day out together.

Another amazing Alden staff member who deserves the spotlight!
💚 We’d like to introduce you to Angela Pidgeon.

Angela joined Kensington Court as a Village Administrator after many years working in education, before confidently stepping into the role of Facility Manager in 2023. She’s supported by her partner of 20 years and their four children, aged between 4 and 15 — a busy family life filled with plenty of laughter and never a dull moment.

Angela often says she didn’t so much find aged care as aged care found her. After starting her journey at Kensington Court, she discovered a real passion for the work and knows she’s exactly where she’s meant to be. Caring for residents and putting their well-being at the heart of everything we do is what drives her every day.

We’re proud to have Angela leading our team. 💙

Our approach to care

Our philosophy is to provide extra support as residents need it. We work with residents, families and our medical teams to create personalised care plans, and provide ongoing assessment. Our staff receive ongoing training to ensure every member of our team can deliver care to our highest standards.

Across the group we provide rest home, hospital, dementia, respite, and end-of-life care, as well as a variety of independent living options.

Respite care

If you or your loved one needs short-term rest home or hospital care, come and talk to us – we’d love to help.

Day programme

If you are not ready to move into a facility, but would benefit from a day out with people who care, you can enjoy a day at our facility. Our unique day programme includes local transport to and from our facility, meals, activities, and conversation with our trained staff and welcoming residents.

Dementia Care

At Ultimate Care Group, we have developed specialised ‘memory care’ support to help our residents lead the best quality of life possible. Caring for someone with dementia can be very challenging, with Ultimate Care Group you don’t need to do it alone. We are here to support residents and their families.

We have many years’ experience providing excellent dementia care. Our core values ensure our specially-trained staff focus on the person, not the disease, and enable us to create a home away from home environment that allows our residents to thrive.
