We’ve both have a story when it comes to food and are still and probably forever on a journey when it comes to food, as do many also.

Through our experience and Caz’s love for nutrition as well as her Health Coaching we hope to educate and bring more awareness to what we are consuming and most importantly from what place, intention, thought and feeling.

Maybe it’s not so much about cultivating a relationship with food but firstly ourselves. From that place we see food for what it is. We have more of an awareness to how it makes us feel and what we need 🥑🥥🍉🥦🍓

‘Who am I?’

A question I’ve been asking myself lots lately.

Looking for the right words, the right labels and identifications.

Yet I believe we’d always be looking if we were basing ourselves of these labels.

Instead, beneath the labels there’s something more. There’s a felt sense that words can’t even describe.

As we become still and spend more time connecting with ourselves, we all have the ability to tap into this.

To tap into this feeling of who we are rather than this depiction we make up in our mind of who we are.

Being in a foreign country around people I don’t know, there’s a sense of confidence that has come with that.

Wearing what I want, going to art classes, new yoga classes, gatherings, salsa nights and chatting to people I wouldn’t normally chat to.

I’m realising if I can do all this here then why not do it at home?

Radical Self Acceptance.

The journey of Aligned begins with Chapter 1, radical self acceptance. Which, ironically, doesn’t happen in chapter 1. Nor 2, and perhaps not 8. For self acceptance is a practice.

A practice of Self.

Of seeing the noise of the mind, the past events, conversations and emotions, and coming back to your Self, each time.

Drawing and recalling all your energy and intention back to your core, in this present moment.

As an intention for yourself to begin practicing self acceptance, perhaps you take the time to meet the parts of you, the past behaviours, words spoken, emotions lingering in the back of the wardrobe… and make a conscious intention to be with it.

To not try to change it, fix it, or get rid of it.

But to simply just hang out for a while, and calibrate your system to know it’s safe to be there

Without self compassion, self awareness can become a time for self beat up.

When we become aware of our natural tendencies and behaviours, it’s quite interesting to witness. The way we react, think, feel, process certain topics and conversations.

Through looking at yourself and these behaviours with compassion, ie seeing the love in the behaviours, or perhaps the means to try achieve love, we can create a partnership within ourselves. Instead of a war.

Acknowledging that every behaviour is out of desires of love or safety.

Self awareness and self compassion are 2 rungs of our DNA that can’t exist without one another 🧬

Just jumped off a Full Moon Ceremony Call with our Online Studio gals 🌕🤍

We explored passion and power, what we are gripping onto, what is resistance and then what is a no and what it is we actually want right now, what what we think we want but what do we really want?

I loved this time together we spent together, because yes in that moment it was wonderful but also everything that had led up to that moment.

My day leading up to it had been really restful, yin like energy and very much a ME day.

I had forgotten how much giving I need to give back to me!

No wonder why everything feels like ALOT when we haven’t nourished ourselves first.

Not to say life has to be all dandy before we go into anything because life isn’t that but what is going to presence us before we tend to others.

Still learning but the particles sure are starting to settle!! ✨✨

And in that nakedness, that rawness you discover what’s underneath it all, who you really are at your core.

We bring in the knowing that your higher self isn’t something you need to change or fix yourself to get to, and really it’s been You all along.

Each week presents a new chapter of self inquiry, a new opportunity to become familiar with yourself, a new way of understanding yourself and your reality.

It’s a misconception that when you do “the work” that you won’t experience painful emotions anymore.

That things will become roses and sunshine all the time.

When really, what it’s about for us and what it’s been for us is building the energetic body to be with it all.

To acknowledge and allow our process, instead of avoiding or distracting.

We still have days, often, when things feel tough and heavy, like our Aligned Alumni (now Online Studio gal) is experiencing here.

But we build the capacity to witness, be with and hold ourselves through it 🌱

With the air feeling warmer, energy perhaps lifting and the end of the year approaching, maybe you are feeling like you should be more excited.

Like you should feel happier.

All this talk about ‘butterfly season’ and yet you feel like you just wanna bury yourself into the ground.

People are creating plans for summer but the memory of being at your family batch last December, there, but not really even there, haunts your ability to think investing in adventures is even worth it.

Please know that there is nothing wrong with you.

And you so aren’t the only one who is experiencing this.

We too have had times of feeling so disconnected from our present reality, so disconnected from our bodies and so disconnected from ourselves.

And realising we were human and this was a natural response to living out of Alignment allowed us to offer ourselves the compassionate understanding and ability to make a choice.

Perhaps joining us for our last round of Aligned for the year, might serve as a resource for you, to explore yourself, your internal world through creating awareness, to allow yourself to actually be in your body, in your external world.

In our beliefs and experiences, anxiety is a sign. A smoke signal from your internal guidance that perhaps there’s a little disconnection from your Self.

It’s an emotion (energy in motion), so energy flowing through your body.

It is a natural HUMAN reaction to a perceived or current threat to your safety.

It stimulates the same response within your body as if your body was under threat to survival.

The body responds by thinking you either need to run or fight (also known as our sympathetic response).

So maybe your heart rate increases, breath shallows and quickens, eye site narrows reducing perception of reality and awareness (… hi inability to focus, brain fog), all blood goes to your extremities - shutting down digestion (… hi IBS) shutting down s*x hormone production (… hi irregular periods or PMS).

It’s a natural response to a fear of lack of safety, and often love means safety.

So next time you’re experiencing some of the physical sensations noted above, rather than trying to ‘get rid of it’ or distract from it, perhaps you take some time to acknowledge its presence and thank it for being there.

For it’s just trying to keep you safe 🤍

I woke up early on the morning I was flying here to Bali. My chest was tight, my thoughts like the lottery ball machine.

S**t felt scary!! Yet I knew that this was what I wanted to do and a nudge I had wanted to follow for a while now.

To be able to decipher between resistance and then a no. I knew this was resistance leading me the way.

I thought of all the incredible women we have worked with through Aligned, Embodied and 1 on 1 and how much we chat about embracing the unknown and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Who was I to say that, if I wasn’t doing that myself?

Everyone’s safe zone is different. Doesn’t mean you have to go solo travelling, it could be anything at all that feels like a stretch for you.

It’s in these experiences that we learn and build a more solid relationship with ourselves.

So here’s to all of our ladies who join us here and take a leap in committing to themselves and here’s to the next adventure 🤍🤍

We never learn how to be with emotions.

Except we learn to avoid pain.

When we’re sad as a child, our parents might keep us quiet with ice cream. Or we might cry and someone hugs us to take away the pain. Or perhaps we’re upset over loosing something, and get told to look at it from another perspective.

We are conditioned to learn that sadness is bad, so then we perhaps learn to fear these painful emotions.

On top of our already hard wired neurological survival response of avoiding pain.

So to feel our emotions can be an interesting journey to navigate.

It can potentially feel, like it did for both of us here at The Practice of Self, overwhelming, lonely, confusing and scary.

What we learnt and unlearnt through the guidance of mentors, healers and our internal guidance system during our navigation has afforded us a relationship of trust, acceptance, allowance and compassion of our emotional responses.

It is this process that we infuse throughout our offerings.

Aligned is an 8 week journey inviting you into a deeper relationship with your Self, and therefore a compassionate understanding of your emotional responses.

Here at The Practice of Self, we have resourced many practices, received guidance directed towards multiple approaches and explored various holistic remedies, and the 3 that have really become a part of our non negotiables are Meditation, Breathwork and Yoga Nidra.

Here we provide some of the delicious physical, emotional and spiritual benefits we have received through these practices, and what a combination of all 3 has afforded us.

These 3 therefore make up the foundation of our offerings within the Online Studio, a community of shared valued people exploring practices live together to connect to ourselves.

Perhaps your experience in any of these is different to ours, and that is beautiful.
