In case you need to hear this today…

I remember a couple of years back I at Byron surf festival and I was having dinner with some close mates. I had been getting the weirdest anxiety all day and at dinner I struggling to have banter and laugh and that’s what I’m normally all about. After we left dinner I asked my best mate “hey bro could you tell I had some weird anxiety going on at dinner?” and he was like nah sorry I honestly had no idea. That’s the scary thing about mental health, sometimes it’s the people we least expect suffering the most and it’s so damn invisible.

When you are in a funk being stuck inside your own head is the worst place to be. One thing I learnt that night and every time I have opened up to my mates about my mental health since then is - if you can tell at least one person how you are ‘really’ feeling it helps ease the pain and day by day the good vibes come back vs. fighting the feelings and not talking about it the pain keeps building up. And every time I have opened up they have been there for me no matter what vs. me been worrying about them not seeing me as the happy dude or bringing down the vibe.

To anyone doing it tough right now it’s not your fault, it’s not a weakness. You are doing awesome and you are a whole lot stronger than you think. Lets check in on our mates today, tell them you love them, but make sure you check in on yourself too and ask “am I, really ok?”. And if you’re not ok grab a mate and talk it out because there’s a good chance they need to talk it out too 💜

A great explanation of tendinopathy for my client with a hamstring injury. Interesting how compressive forces to the injured tendon will irritate it further & therefore the importance for correct rehab exercises for speedy recovery.
