Your past is not who you are.
You choose who you become by the actions you take, day in and day out.

I’m often embarrassed about my past and the lifestyle I used to live. Green V (not sugar-free 😅), ciggies and a cheap sav were my lifeline. The only cardio I did was on a sticky nightclub floor at 1am.

We all go through different stages at different ages—and while I don’t love that chapter, it’s part of the reason I’m here now. It’s taken 15 years of intentional effort, action, and a lot of mistakes, setbacks, and uncomfortable growth along the way.

Every now and then, someone will say “it comes easy to you” or “you make it look effortless.” Maybe it’s because I don’t always share the daily struggles. The truth is, it’s not flashy—it’s quiet and constant.

The version of me you see today? She was built—not born.
If you’re in a place you don’t love right now, please know this:
You don’t have to stay there.
You’re allowed to change.
You’re allowed to grow.
And you’re capable of becoming someone you’re proud of.

The Foundation of Progress 📈

As the holiday season wraps up, I’ve had many conversations with clients about how they’ve been feeling over the past few weeks. For many, the lack of structure and routine disrupted not just their physical progress but also their mental state. They felt “off,” struggled with discipline, and noticed their mood was lower than usual.

And it makes sense. Structure and routine are powerful tools that keep us anchored, especially when we’re chasing goals—whether in fitness, health, or life in general. They help us stay consistent, which is where real results are made.

Consistency isn’t about being perfect; it’s about showing up, even when motivation wanes. It’s about keeping promises to yourself—choosing balance over all-or-nothing thinking.

Over the holidays, routines often fall to the wayside, but that’s not the end of the story. What’s important is acknowledging the impact, resetting, and rebuilding those habits that support your goals.

So, if you’ve been feeling a bit out of sorts lately, you’re not alone. Use this time to re-establish structure in your day, whether it’s meal prepping, setting workout times, or simply creating space for self-care. Small, consistent actions add up.

Looking over your shoulder can remind you of where you’ve been, but dwelling on the past can keep you stuck there.

Growth comes when you intentionally choose to move forward. It starts with setting goals that align with the life you truly want to live, surrounding yourself with people and environments that lift you higher, and letting go of the habits or thoughts that hold you back.

Take a moment to reflect—what are you holding onto that no longer serves you?

“If you don’t use it, you lose it.”

When we think about resistance training, it’s easy to get caught up in the aesthetics—the sculpted arms, defined legs, and toned physique. But the benefits go so much deeper than what we see in the mirror.

Lifting weights is about function. It’s about building a body that supports you in everyday life, whether that’s playing with your kids or grandkids, carrying groceries, or moving pain-free. It’s about longevity—preserving muscle mass and bone density so that as we age, we stay strong, mobile, and independent.

As you know, I’m well and truly converted to the power of regular lifting. It’s transformed my life, and I spend my days helping and teaching others to build strength successfully, safely, and sustainably.

Though they’re a smaller part of my clientele, working with aspiring and seasoned athletes is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Watching each of them flourish on their unique journey, unlocking new levels, and pushing limits they never thought possible is what fills my cup. 🙌

The life of a bodybuilder isn’t for the faint-hearted. It takes determination, grit, and sacrifice. Frankly, most aren’t willing to endure it—but that’s what makes this path extraordinary. We’re a special breed. 💪

Once you’ve walked this road, you understand the deep “why” behind competing. And if you haven’t, you might think we’re a little crazy—and that’s okay. It takes courage to live differently, to step outside the box, and to chase goals that most won’t even attempt. 🏆

How would you describe your experience at the workshop?
I loved it! Leash is so knowledgeable and passionate about women’s health and fitness.

Were your expectations met?
I had no expectations but really enjoyed it.

What stood out to you?
The quirky props, physical tasks, and barbell practice were my favorites.

Were the exercises easy to understand and apply?
Yes, Leash is very direct and helpful.

What techniques have you implemented?
Breathing while squatting, pulling my rib flare in, and gluing my butt to the leg machines.

Any changes since attending?
Holding my breath while squatting is a game-changer.

⭐️Core Control Workshop Testimonial⭐️

Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a core workshop with Alysha, and it was incredibly informative. The session focused on the fundamentals of breathing, posture, and body awareness.

Going in, I didn’t have any specific expectations, but I walked away with valuable resources that I can now apply during exercise and in everyday life. The emphasis on connecting with my body through breathing was particularly insightful and has made a noticeable difference in how I approach movement.

Alysha also ensured that the exercises and explanations were easy to understand and apply. She provided one-on-one checks to make sure we were doing everything correctly, which was incredibly helpful.

Some key techniques I’ve implemented since the workshop include:
• How to breathe effectively while exercising.
• How to safely engage my core to improve performance and support movement. Since attending, I’ve noticed positive changes in my posture and an improved awareness of my core, which has made me feel more connected to my body overall. These small adjustments have even made my body feel more comfortable in everyday movements. If I could sum up this experience in one word, it would be empowering. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to deepen their understanding of core fundamentals and build a stronger connection with their body.

Let’s be real – sugar cravings are something I deal with all the time. And yes, even as a coach, they get me! (Lolly cake, you have my heart. 🩵)

Cravings don’t make you weak or “bad” – they’re part of being human, especially if you’re pushing hard in the gym or balancing a busy life. But there are ways to handle them without feeling guilty or like you’re constantly “fighting” food:

🩵 Plan for Your Faves
Instead of saying “no sweets at all,” I plan for something I love (like lolly cake!) a few times a week. This way, I’m enjoying it mindfully and not feeling deprived.

🩵 Eat Enough Protein and Fats
If I’m not fueling properly throughout the day, those sugar cravings hit extra hard. So I make sure to get plenty of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs.

🩵 Stay Hydrated
Sometimes a craving is just a sign you’re thirsty! Before grabbing a treat, I’ll have a glass of water to see if that curbs it.

🩵 Get Moving
A quick walk or workout can help shift my focus away from the craving. Plus, those endorphins make me feel amazing!

Cravings are normal, and enjoying your favorite treats shouldn’t be a battle. It’s about balance, not restriction! 💪
