Not sure if youโ€™re protected against measles? Hereโ€™s how to check:

๐Ÿ’ป Use the online tool
It guides you through what to look for based on your age and vaccination history. Find it here: info.health.nz/conditions-treatments/infectious-diseases/about-measles/measles-immunity -if-you-are-immune-to-measles-12096

๐Ÿ’ป Log into My Health Record via your My Health Account to view your immunisation records (available for most people vaccinated after 2005).

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€โš•๏ธ Ask your doctor, nurse, healthcare provider or hauora provider. They can check your records or advise if you should get vaccinated.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Call the Vaccination Helpline on 0800 28 29 26 (Monโ€“Fri 8:30amโ€“9pm, weekends 8:30amโ€“2pm) for support. Interpreters, Mฤori kaimahi or disability advisors are available.

โœ… Other places you can check include your online patient portal (e.g. Manage My Health), your childhood health book such as your Plunket or WellChild Tamariki Ora book, calling your local lab as they might have records of measles immunity tests you've had in the past.

โœˆ๏ธ If you grew up overseas, contact your previous doctor or healthcare clinics to see if they have your immunisation records.

๐Ÿ’™ No records? Not sure? Itโ€™s safe for most to get another dose of the MMR vaccine and itโ€™s free for most people in NZ.

This Measles Immunisation Week (3โ€“7 Nov), take action to protect yourself and your whฤnau.

Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious health problems like pneumonia and brain swelling. One in three people with measles will need hospital care. Children under five, those who are pregnant, and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk. Two doses of the MMR vaccine after 12 months of age offer strong protection.

With heavy rainfall forecast, it is normal to feel worried and frustrated, given the extreme weather events earlier this year. Here are some tips you might find helpful ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง

โ˜‚๏ธ Share your thoughts and feelings with whฤnau, friends, neighbours, or others who have been through the same experience.
โ˜‚๏ธ Limit how much time you spend on social media or checking the news, and make sure youโ€™re getting your info from reliable sources such as your local Council, Civil Defence and MetService.
โ˜‚๏ธ If youโ€™re able to, find something constructive to do. Shifting your focus to โ€˜practical stuffโ€™ within your ability to control (like looking after others or checking in on neighbours) can help ease your stress levels.
โ˜‚๏ธ Be patient with yourself. You will find a sense of balance again at your own pace.
โ˜‚๏ธ If youโ€™re looking after children, remember they see things through your eyes so be sure to fill your own cup first.
