Why we prescribe Beta Gel over Hyaluronic Acid
When skin is inflamed hydration isn’t just about adding water.
In compromised skin, hyaluronic acid can sit mainly on the surface.
Without strong barrier support, this may increase trans epidermal water loss, leaving skin feeling tight, reactive, or even more dehydrated.
This is why, in inflammatory skin conditions, we often prioritise beta-glucan.
Beta-glucan has a smaller molecular structure, allowing it to pe*****te more effectively into the epidermis, where it helps calm inflammation, support barrier repair, and reduce TEWL instead of just plumping the surface.
Hydration isn’t one-size-fits-all.
We like to choose what the skin can actually use.
