DONATION of $250.00 towards Global Ocean Sanctuaries with Greenpeace Aotearoa.

The health of the ocean is tied to the health of all life on earth.

Oceans are being destroyed by destructive fishing practices like longlining and bottom trawling, which is decimating deep-sea habitats and pushing vulnerable marine life to the brink.

Creating global ocean sanctuaries on the high seas will help protect all life and fragile ecosystems that live in these abundant waters.

The UN Ocean Conference started this week. World leaders have come together to discuss ocean protection. Hopefully there will be a positive outcome.

CRITICALLY ENDANGERED ORANGUTAN

The Bornean orangutan populations have declined by 50% during the past 60 years. This decline is largely attributed to habitat loss due to rainforest deforestation primarily for palm oil plantations, logging and mining.

A high percentage of orangutan live in unprotected rainforests leaving them at greater risk of extinction.

The Little Massage Room has donated $400 towards helping The Orangutan Project and its partners in Indonesia towards legally changing the land status of high conservation value rainforest in order to protect orangutans.

When our homes are destroyed we can rebuild them ..... this is not the case for these dear intelligent creatures, hence a donation to try to keep them alive.

WOMEN'S REFUGE
According to Women's Refuge over 6,000 women and children this holiday season are filled with dread and anxiety due to family violence. The last donation for 2024 goes towards 15 'Safe Nights'. One 'Safe Night' provides a woman and her children a safe clean bed, a hot meal and supportive staff for a night.

As always I appreciate your support and hope the massages during the year have been beneficial.

The next donation goes to …… the DUNEDIN NIGHT SHELTER.

By booking massages with The Little Massage Room you have helped donate $300 to the above charity. A safe place for those souls that have run out of options and whose needs are urgent.

The Shelter provides dinner, breakfast and a warm, dry bed for those who have nowhere else to turn. Anyone in need can stay at the Shelter for a maximum of 5 nights. It is open every night from 6pm to 9am.

My Dad grew up in Dunedin. With a smile on his face he would recall the bitter cold winters …… he had a place he could call home where he was fed and loved.

But the cold and damp of our winters make living rough that much more difficult.

Who loves Trade Aid chocolate - me! Legendary Trade Aid will close most of their outlet stores due to an increase in customers choosing to buy on-line and also the cost-of-living crisis. They will also close the chocolate factory permanently. Let us enjoy this beautiful chocolate while we can. I donated $500 in total to The Fred Hollows Foundation and Against Malaria Foundation from the last financial year.
