Today marks the birthday of Moshe Feldenkrais - a physicist, engineer, judo black belt… and someone who completely changed how we understand movement and learning.
A few things that make him worth knowing about:
✨️ He rebuilt his own ability to walk when knee surgery wasn’t a sure thing
✨️ He was one of the first to connect neuroscience with movement (before it was trendy)
✨️ He believed how you move affects how you think, feel and experience life
But here’s the bit I keep coming back to:
He didn’t create a system of exercises.
He created a way of paying attention.
Less forcing.
More sensing.
Less “fixing” yourself.
More understanding how you actually work.
It turns out, when your brain gets better information… your body makes better choices.
And when you move better, you feel better.
Feels like a pretty good way to celebrate a birthday to me.
Want to move well and feel fabulous? Need help to overcome pain, improve mobility, posture or breathing?
