A question I get asked all the time - "What is the difference between your in-person and live, online classes?"
My focus is always the same - helping you move from second-guessing everything..... to actually feeling calm, confident and prepared.
No overwhelm
No judgment
No pressure to do things a certain way
Real talk, honest conversations, evidence informed education, practical hands-on activities and support.

There’s something about becoming a parent that shifts things a little…
You start thinking about the “what ifs.”
What if they choke?
What if they stop breathing?
What if something just doesn’t feel right?
Not in an anxious, spiralling kind of way - more in that quiet, responsible “I want to be ready” kind of way.
Because in an emergency, it’s not about knowing everything…
it’s about knowing what to do in those first few moments.
Those moments where staying calm, recognising what’s happening, and taking the right action can make all the difference.
Most parents I speak to don’t want to feel like they’re guessing in that situation. They want to feel steady. Clear. Capable.
And the truth is…
googling in an emergency isn’t a plan.
That’s exactly why I run the Baby & Infant Emergency Know-How workshop.
It’s practical, hands-on, and focused on the things that actually matter - what to look for, what to do, and when to act.
We cover things like:
• choking
• CPR
• breathing concerns
• fevers
• head bumps and common accidents
All in a way that builds confidence without overwhelming you.
If this has been sitting in the back of your mind - this is your nudge.
Next workshop: 10th June
If you’d like more details or want to join us, just let me know or keep an eye out - I’ll share more soon.

Today I’ve been writing one of the most personal chapters in my book.
The chapter that talks about the emotional side of becoming a parent - the baby blues, postnatal depression, anxiety, birth trauma, and the things we don’t always talk about out loud.
While writing it, I’ve had moments where my own memories surfaced. My heart raced, anxiety crept in, and I felt the familiar edge of panic that once lived very close to me after the birth of my own children.
More than twenty years have passed since then.
But experiences like that leave marks, and sometimes certain conversations or memories can still stir things up.
I’m sharing this because I want the parents who will read this book to know something important.
This chapter isn’t written from a distance.
It’s written from a place of understanding.
And if parts of your own journey feel heavy, complicated, or hard to talk about - please know you are not alone.
Some chapters in life take time to process.
Some stories take courage to tell.
But they matter.
And so do you.

Considering a TENS machine to support you during labour?
24/02/2026
I’ve been working on something behind the scenes… and I’m finally ready to share it.
I’ve created the Bellies to Babies Support Hub on Skool — an online space dedicated to pregnancy, birth and early parenting.
For a while now, I’ve felt the limits of Facebook groups. Each class gets its own group, information gets buried, conversations disappear, and not everyone is even on Facebook anymore.
So I built something better.
Inside the Hub, everything is organised and easy to find — whether you’re 10 weeks pregnant or holding your newborn.
There are sections for:
• Pregnancy
• Labour & Birth
• Early Parenting
• Partners
You’ll find clear explanations, reflective checklists, real talk about induction, epidurals, hormones, water birth, newborn feeding, transition… and space to ask the questions you’re actually thinking about.
You don’t have to be one of my in-person class members.
You don’t even have to live locally.
If you’re pregnant (or planning to be) and want grounded, evidence-based education in a calm space — this is for you.
It’s education you can trust.
Support you can return to.
And a community that grows with you.
This is for you.
Come join us inside the Hub.
Let’s make pregnancy and birth feel less overwhelming — and more empowering.
Not just nourished with food.
But nourished with rest.
With reassurance.
With real information.
With someone saying, “You’re doing better than you think.”
When a woman feels supported in pregnancy…
When she understands what’s happening in her body…
When she feels heard in labour…
When she’s allowed to recover slowly after birth.....
Everything shifts.
Her confidence shifts.
Her nervous system shifts.
Her experience shifts.
And when she feels steady, informed, and cared for — that ripple moves outward.
Into her birth.
Into her recovery.
Into her parenting.
Into her relationship.
Into her baby.
We spend so much time preparing for the baby.
But what if we put just as much care into preparing and protecting the mother?
Because a nourished mother doesn’t just cope.
She grows.
She trusts herself.
She steps into this new chapter feeling supported, not depleted.
And that changes the whole story.
If you’re pregnant right now, ask yourself:
Where am I being nourished?
And where might I need more support?
You deserve it.

Apparently this is what happens when you mix 20+ years of antenatal education, a love of teaching, a few baby dolls, and a whole lot of passion for supporting parents.
No filters. No perfection.
Just real conversations about pregnancy, birth, babies, and everything in between.
I get to talk about bodies doing incredible things, answer the questions people are often too nervous to ask, laugh a lot, and help parents feel calmer and more confident as they head into one of the biggest seasons of their lives.
Honestly, it’s a pretty great job.
If you’ve ever sat in one of my classes, held a baby doll, practised a nappy change, or had that “ohhhh… that makes sense now” moment — this one’s for you.

One of the most common things parents say to me is
“I just want to know what to do if something goes wrong.”
That’s exactly why I run my Baby & Infant Emergency Know-How Workshop.
This workshop is all about practical, hands-on skills and building confidence — not fear or overwhelm. We focus on helping you feel calmer and more prepared if your baby or young child ever needs urgent help.
We cover:
– choking response for babies and young children
– CPR basics
– recognising red flags and when to act
– common emergencies and how to respond
I know timing can be tricky — some families are right in the newborn bubble already — so if this one doesn’t work, these workshops run bi-monthly and there will be another coming up soon.
Most parents leave saying,
“I hope I never need this… but I’m so glad I know it.”
I’ll share the details below. If you’re unsure whether this is right for you or your family, feel free to message me — I’m always happy to chat.
Preparing doesn’t mean expecting the worst. It means giving yourself tools and confidence.
I’ve been quietly working on something for a while now… and it finally feels real enough to say it out loud.
I’m writing a book.
It’s not a textbook.
It’s not a “do this perfectly” guide.
It’s a companion for pregnancy, birth, and early parenting — grounded in real stories, honest reflections, practical guidance, and the things people don’t always say out loud.
The emotional stuff.
The messy stuff.
The beautiful, confusing, life-shifting stuff.
This book is shaped by years of teaching, listening, and walking alongside parents — and by the many conversations that happen after class, when the questions get deeper and the masks come off.
It’s still a draft.
Still evolving.
Still being shaped.
But it’s coming from a very real place, and I’m excited (and a little nervous) to finally share that.
More to come — but for now, this is me saying: I’m building something meaningful.

Pregnant? Join me to explore our Maternity Wards before the BIG day and I'll show you where to go, we'll have a look in the rooms, find out where you can get 'ice chips' from and I'll share some hints and tips for creating a calm and personalised birthing space.
If you’re pregnant and feeling a bit unsure about what actually happens on the day you arrive to have your baby, a guided maternity tour can be really reassuring.
These tours give you the chance to see the space, understand how things work, and ask questions ahead of time — which often helps reduce anxiety and build confidence.
You’re very welcome to bring your partner or support person along. These guided tours are open, and everyone is welcome.
If you’d like a calm way to familiarise yourself with the birthing environment before labour begins, you’ll find details about upcoming tours on my website - www.belliestobabies.co.nz
