Tomorrow (Monday) morning, the sky is putting on a show. 🌒

A partial solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun and here in Napier, you’ll catch it as the sun climbs over the Pacific.

Partial eclipse begins in Napier at 5:56am, with maximum coverage (63.52%) at 7am and ends at 8:12am.

We open from 5:30am, so bring your morning soak or settle in by the pools for the best seat in town.

Our history is your history too.

Back in 1908, Napier’s Mayor J Vigor Brown had a vision... a world-class salt water bath complex for the people of Napier.

By 1909, it was a reality: a 100m x 50m pool, private hot salt baths, tearooms, and recreation spaces. At the time, it was state-of-the-art, and the hot sea water was even advertised for its ‘curative value’ - helping with everything from sciatica to sleepless nights.

The site has been reimagined many times over the past century, but the heart of it remains the same: a place for locals to move, connect, and restore.

Today, Ocean Spa continues that vision right here on Marine Parade - the same spot it’s held in the community for over 100 years.
