And that's a wrap for 2024✨️

Reopening 13th Jan!!! 😀

What a huge year it has been
Ā-nuku has supported over 500 rongoā clinics, births, community events, hauora pā day events, noho wānanga, workshops, organization pd, indigenous conferences, presentations and symposiums across the motu.
All while raising a whānau of 6 (now 9) and holding down full-time mahi elsewhere.
This has been no easy task and could not be made possible without the backing of my incredibly supportive whānau...
You's really are the best!!!! THANKYOU 💚

So what's install for 2025?

We are excited to have a new tauira joining Ā-nuku, an introduction post will follow in the New Year. This is an awesome opportunity to share on the matauranga and grow the capacity at Ā-nuku for whānau in the hapori.

From February 11th our new opening hours will be:
Mon 4:30pm-9pm
Tue 4:30pm-9pm
Wed 4:30pm-9pm
Fri 4:30pm-9pm
Sat 10:30am-4pm
Sun 10:30am-4pm

2025 we will be travelling around Te Waipounamu delivering Hapū wānanga, Īkura wānanga and Wharetangata Ora clinics particularly in our Southern districts keep an eye out for dates & locations 👀👀

Lastly, we would like to thank everyone for your ongoing support and looking forward to serving our communities in 2025.

A baby crowning, a moment of truth,
A sign that the end is near, uncouth.
The culmination of months of waiting,
The beginning of the journey breathtaking.

With each contraction, the baby descends,
Closer and closer until it transcends
The barrier between the womb and the world,
And into a new reality, it's hurled.

The head emerges, a miracle to see,
A small, dark, and downy chick, carefree.
The body follows, slick with fluids and blood,
A little life, all at once, understood.

The mother groans, a primal sound,
As she pushes and strains until she's unbound.
The baby slips out, with a final heave,
Into her arms, where it can safely breathe.

And there it is, a baby crowning,
A new life, a miracle, surrounding.
A tiny being with infinite potential,
Ready to grow, to thrive, to be essential.

So let us celebrate this moment so rare,
As we witness the start of a journey, so fair.
A baby crowning, a beginning anew,
A reminder of the beauty that life can ensue.

Iron is the mineral that conveys oxygen to the brain. Iron should have carbon, hydrogen and oxygen (the CHO chain). Iron is the spark plug of the human body. When you are deficient in iron, you are susceptible to a whole bunch of diseases. Iron fires the body up and is the only mineral on the planet that is magnetic. Being that iron is magnetic it has a tendency to pull other minerals to it. It pulls magnesium, zinc, gold, calcium, phosphorous, etc. It would be safe to say that when you take large doses of iron that you are taking all the other minerals.

Te Pō Tūtanga nui o Piripi ❄️✨️
(Winter Solstice)

As we move closer to observing the rising of Matariki, today marks Te Pō Tūtanga nui o Pipiri. Today is the shortest day, and the longest night of the year (or Winter Solstice!)
This marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. It celebrates the re-birth of Tama-nui-te-rā (the sun) and the path to summer. Having reached its furthest point north and being at its lowest (and weakest) position, Tama-nui-te-rā (the sun) effectively reaches its extreme and after a day or so Tamanui-te-Ra turns from his Winter maiden Hine-Takurua to take his first step back toward the warmth and prosperity of his Summer maiden Hineraumati.

Winter Solstice radiates renewal as you enter the spiritual womb.
Embrace the beauty of darkness as it reminds us to go within and contemplate letting go and sitting in the void, to reflect, cleanse, and release for our ultimate expansion and growth.

And that's a wrap for 2023 e te iwi 🎉🎊
So much to be grateful for as a small pakihi Māori, lots of highlights!!!
Much aroha and gratitude to our tamariki, whānau & friends for putting up with the "hold on I'm busy" or "hang on I won't be long" kōrero and for being so supporting & understanding.
It's not an easy gig juggling full time mahi Mon-Fri then running a pakihi in the evenings & weekends. 😅
We would like to thank all those who have accessed our services at Ā-nuku and attended wānanga, presentations and workshops throughout 2023 your support has been invaluable 🙏🏾
Both Mazi & I will be taking a much needed break to enjoy the season of Hineraumati with our tamariki & whānau, our doors at Ā-nuku will reopen from 12th February.😀
