Our practice uses the Well app, and patients using Well are not exposed to this risk in the way described.

You may have seen recent media coverage about a cybersecurity incident involving a patient portal used by some general practices in New Zealand.
Does this affect my practice or my information?
No. Our practice uses the Well app, and patients using Well are not exposed to this risk in the way described in the recent media coverage.
Why is Well different?
Well is designed differently from some other patient portals. It does not extract or retain full patient records or ongoing clinical histories outside our practice systems. Your medical record continues to be held and managed securely by our practice as the trusted source.
Is my health information still secure?
Yes. Your health information continues to be managed securely by our practice, just as it always has been.
Do I need to do anything?
No action is required. You can continue to use the Well app as normal.
Should I stop using the app?
No. There’s no need to stop using Well. It remains safe to use for interacting with our practice.
