We’re keen to hear and understand the experiences of people with disabilities in the outdoors through our online Outdoor Recreation Accessibility Survey with Recreation Aotearoa.

We’re asking people with disabilities, tāngata whaikaha Māori, whānau, friends and support persons to tell us about their aspirations and experiences in outdoor recreation. You can also support this kaupapa by sharing the survey with disability organisations, individuals and whānau you’re connected with.

Survey invitation info is available in NZSL, Easy Read, Large Print and Audio. Visit the website for more details: https://bit.ly/3U0VX8Q

A whole lot of 'hearing knowledge' in this room. Thanks, team.

It was great to be part of the community panel discussion and Q&A session together with Hearing Nelson last week, in celebration of Hearing Awareness Week.

The SCIP team loved being a part of this fun event, and it was a great way to spread information about services for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing in the area. Thanks for having us Nelson!

If you have any further questions for SCIP, you can reach out to our Belinda van der Monde (Community Relationship Manager) – belinda.vandermonde@scip.co.nz

Did you know that Hearing Nelson also educates our rest home carers on how to communicate effectively with their Hard of Hearing residents? It's really important for them to understand the barriers that their residents' experience every day with hearing loss and also, how to identify the various devices and accessories that they have in their rooms...but most importantly, the importance of wearing their hearing aids every day. These pictures thanks to the wonderful people at Summerset In The Sun, Stoke.

A huge thank you to OneForty One New Zealand for sponsoring our Dangerous Decibels Program this year. This is a well recognized and valuable hearing loss prevention program that is vital to ensuring our tamariki protect their hearing and help them be aware of 'dangerous decibels' in their everyday life. Thanks OneForty One New Zealand and the Nelson Weekly.
