If you had grass like this, you'd never have to mow your lawn again!
These bright green blades aren't grass, though. They're translucent selenite crystals clustered tightly on a patch of dark basalt πΏπͺ¨
Selenite is a form of the mineral gypsum that naturally forms long, blade-like crystals. Its smooth, fibrous structure gives it a silky glow when light passes through it.
Most selenite is white or clear, but green selenite gets its color from trace elements like nickel or iron trapped during formation. Green varieties like this one are rare and have been found in places like Argentina, Poland, and some pockets of the U.S.
