Our new Waka Ora Health Shuttle, that was generously donated by Chiptech in Christchurch was blessed on Friday in Hawera and was ready for its first trip to New Plymouth today. The shuttle enables people to attend health appointments and is run by our wonderful volunteers in Hawera. Thank you to Mayor Phil Nixon for attending who acknowledged the dedication of our volunteers and the vital role the shuttle plays in supporting our communities.

Thank you to Carter Products for getting in touch when they needed to find a new home for their AED. We were happy to be able to pass it on to the wonderful Urenui & Mōkau Rural Healthcare Inc. team to have available in one of their nurses' cars out in the community.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the generous member of the public who, through St John Taranaki, has gifted us an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
This life-saving device will be kept in our nurse’s car, ensuring it’s readily available in case of an emergency. We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful and impactful contribution to the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Ngā mihi nui,

Confident in CPR and using an AED?

Sign up to the GoodSAM app and improve someone’s chances of surviving cardiac arrest.

If there's a cardiac arrest, the GoodSAM app alerts trained people nearby while an ambulance is on the way.

Getting pretty real for a minute here NZ 🚑

Last year over 2,500 people were treated for cardiac arrest in our communities, that's almost 7 people each day. Around 72% of these patients were in their homes.

We spend most of our time with our loved ones so there’s a good chance that if you witness a cardiac arrest, it will be someone you know.

⚡Immediate CPR and using an AED more than doubles someone's chance of survival. Anyone can learn CPR, and knowing how to do it could save the life of someone you care about.

If you are going to do anything this year, make it to learn what to do in a cardiac arrest ❤️
