She brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to her work and a genuine commitment to supporting patients over the long term. We’re excited to have her on board and know you’ll enjoy getting to know her.

🌎🤧 It’s World Immunisation Week, a great reminder to check that you and your whānau are up to date with your free immunisations.

🤧 All vaccines on the National Immunisation Schedule are free for children and young people under 18 in Aotearoa, no matter their visa or citizenship status. And if they’ve missed any, it’s never too late to catch up.

🌎 Flu vaccines are also free for many people with underlying health conditions (including some tamariki from 6 months) and for everyone aged 65+.

❤ Shout‑out to the legends at New Plymouth Community Foodbank and Waitara Foodbank - Pataka Kai for the incredible mahi they do supporting whānau across Taranaki. Times are tough for many, and access to good food plays such a big part in keeping people well.

That’s why we’re grateful to back these groups through our annual pumpkin harvest. It's a small, practical way we can help strengthen food security and support the health of our community.

👉 DID YOU KNOW... Protecting your pēpi starts during pregnancy - book an appointment with our nursing team to get your free influenza (flu) vaccination.

👉 The flu is a serious disease for pregnant people/hapū mamā and their pēpi. Why? Because if you catch the flu when you are pregnant, you are at greater risk of getting pneumonia and are more likely to be hospitalised. Flu also increases the chance of complications for your baby, such as early birth, miscarriage, stillbirth and lower birth weights.

👉 It’s safe to have the flu vaccine at any stage during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. You can even get it at the same time as the pregnancy whooping cough (pertussis) vaccine if that also due.

🎃 Our Carefirst pumpkin patch has come full circle with yet another bountiful harvest! Back in December our team planted the seedlings together, and this week a crew of staff and tamariki joined Steve Francis (from Kōia - gardening for well-being, who kindly let us plant on his property) to bring in the harvest... all 140 pumpkins of it!

🎃 Shout out to Sharon and her colleague from New Plymouth Foodbank who also rolled up their sleeves to help gather this year’s crop, which will be donated to the New Plymouth Community Foodbank and Waitara Foodbank - Pataka Kai.

🎃 This is our third year growing pumpkins at Steve’s place, and it’s become one of those traditions that reminds us how much good can grow when our community gets stuck in together ❤

🚢 🌍 💙 Our nurse practitioner Bronwen (from our Westown clinic) is heading to Sierra Leone for eight weeks to volunteer on the Global Mercy, the world’s largest civilian hospital ship.

🚢She’ll be working in the crew clinic, supporting the volunteers who deliver life changing surgical care to communities with limited access to healthcare.

“It’s an exciting adventure and a chance to contribute to something bigger,” says Bronwen. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help.”

The WISE Charitable Trust Pyjama Drive is here. As the colder months start to settle in, it’s a chance to come together and support Taranaki whānau. We’re collecting new or good quality second hand pyjamas and dressing gowns to help keep tamariki warm this winter.

You can drop off donations with us. Running from 7th April to 30th July. Let’s get behind this kaupapa!
