A few weeks ago, Casey was looking after a funeral in Stratford. When they arrived at the cemetery, the grandchildren were curious about what would happen next.
Casey spent time with them, gently explaining what was going on and answering their questions in a way they could understand.

We know that everyone experiences grief differently, and that includes children. Taking the time to help them understand what’s happening can be an important part of helping them feel safe and supported. Grief and loss are part of love and part of life.

This moment was captured by a family member, and the photo is shared with their permission. 💙

On ANZAC Day, we pause with gratitude for the privilege of living in the country we do, mindful of a world still marked by disruption and heartache. We remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.
Today, we took the opportunity to wander through the Servicemen’s Section of Te Henui Cemetery, always beautifully maintained, and a tranquil place to reflect and remember.
“At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.”

Seeing the ripples reflect on the ceiling today, Anzac Day, seems rather symbolic. A reminder to reflect on the human sacrifice of war and remember those whose lives were lost.

Our team at Eagars Funerals have sadly been made aware of an online scammer posing as a funeral director by sharing livestream details on social media. The scam requests Credit Card details to view and download the livestream.

If our families have asked for us to arrange for the service to be livestreamed Eagars Funerals will NEVER ask for credit card details. If you are ever unsure please call our office 067592200.

Not everyone wants a big send off.
This is a simple space where families can come together, have a bit of quiet, and do things their way.

The funeral isn't the end, it's the beginning of your grieving. Remembering that grief is love with it's dark coat on ...

A funeral doesn’t “fix” grief.
The pain doesn’t disappear after the service.
But it does something deeply important:
It marks the moment life changes, the moment we step into the “after.”
It’s the community saying:
“You mattered. You changed us. You will be carried forward.”
At its heart, a funeral is an act of love.
For the person who died.
And for everyone left behind.

If you’re planning a farewell (or thinking about your own wishes), talk to a Funeral Directors Association member firm https://funeraldirectors.co.nz/arranging-a-funeral/find-a-funeral-director/

Because saying goodbye properly matters.
