The cost for a first time colonic is $140 and can take up to 2 hours (usually between an hour and a half and 2 hours). You're not on the bed the whole time, with a first appointment we have a little consultation as well as the hydrotherapy so it takes a bit longer. For further treatments, the price goes down to $100 and these appointments take just over an hour (depending on regularity, the price can decrease again). Some people find huge relief and change after just one session but regularity of treatments depends on the individual. It can be a little scary when it's your first time but it really is the most fascinating treatment to experience. Nearly everyone tells me that it's a lot more comfortable than they were expecting and end up coming back for follow up sessions. With the treatment, warm filtered water flows into the bowel continuously for 45 minutes. Every so often you get the feeling you need to empty and the body is able to do this on our specially designed bed. So you have 30 - 40 poos while you are here, all the while, relaxing back and just letting it happen (which can be a bit weird to start with but feels amazing the more you are able to relax into it). The tube is the size of your little finger and only goes in about 2cm so is very non-invasive. I do a demonstration (with my pants on) before you get ready and then you are able to insert the tube yourself if you are confident. So I mentioned prices above, rates are as follows:
First time treatment including consultation - $140
Repeat visits - $120 (depending on regularity) or
3 x sessions - $320
6 x sessions - $600

Appointment times are between 9:30 and 4pm Mon - Sat. As for preparation, it's always good to make sure you're drinking a good amount of water. There are great fibre products on the market - Poo Brew from The Health Shop in New Plymouth is a great product to start softening matter in the bowel so would be good to get into before your session. I don't recommend doing anything that is going to stress you out too much. The more relaxed you are for your session the better. Try not to eat anything too heavy on the day of your session but fasting definitely isn't necessary. I NO LONGER have EFTPOS facilities.
