90's Belt Bags - What a 'VIBE' (that's what the cool kids say these days right!?)

If I'm honest, this was a 'let's just try it and see what happens' project. It was the first time I'd done this project with kids (well anyone actually) and there was definitely some tricky parts involved.

But as usual, these kids smashed it! 🤩

A brand new sewing class for our littlest makers (ages 4-6) and their grown-ups.

These sessions are all about creativity, play, and exploring fabric with a few simple stitching skills added in along the way.

The fun of being six definitely doesn’t stop at holes in the knees… ⛷️🧎‍♂️ 😆

I’ve just finished mending a well-loved bunch of kids’ pants using visible mending techniques, turning worn-out knees into monsters!

Visible mending is all about celebrating the life of a garment, not hiding its story. It’s a creative way to give otherwise great pants a second (or third!) life.

Less waste, more fun and clothes that can keep up with the adventures 😜

Join Stitch Up Society over the school hols for this BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND Recycley Monster workshop.

Learn to make your own crazy, weird and loveable Recycley Monster made from recycled fabrics.

Design a pattern, choose your fabric, cut, sew stuff and adorn your very own stuffed toy.

Tools and equipment provided but you're encouraged to bring your own scrap/recycled fabrics. Think and old t-shirt or jersey, maybe some old bedsheets... you could bring some buttons and beads too. But don't worry if you don't have anything, we have plenty to spare.

Tricky Marble Mazes created by our Mini Stitchers this week!

This project has been great for perfecting sewing machine skills with lots of straight lines, sharp corners and important measuring!

The mazes are also so great to keep hands occupied or brains calm if, like me, you struggle to keep still when you're meant to be! 😉💃🌪🧠

Kids Mini Stitchers classes are starting up again soooon.

🪡What: Kids beginner friendly sewing classes with a focus on sustainablity.

⏰️Time: 4:15-5:30pm
🧒Age: 8(ish)-12(ish)
📍Westown
❤️Cost: 8x weeks $200

Kids gain practical and useable skills through fun projects - this term is a fabric marble maze game and a belt/bum bag.

Spaces are limited to 6 kids per session so be quick sticks to book a spot.

This 4 week course is a hands on, get stuck in, crash course covering:

⭐️Mending and alterations
⭐️Pattern reading
⭐️Starting your own project

No experience necessary- we specialise in High School Sewing class PTSD recovery😉
