✨️A gentle home practice:

Take 5–10 minutes today to sit or lie down somewhere comfortable. Let your body be supported.
☆Notice the natural rhythm of your breath without trying to change it.
☆Imagine the year as a cargo train that has arrived. You don’t need to open every carriage or understand what’s inside.
☆Simply notice how your body feels as the train comes to rest.
☆As you exhale, imagine setting one piece of cargo down, something your body no longer needs to carry forward. There’s no need to name it. Let the release happen through sensation: a softening, a sigh, a settling.
☆Rest here for a few breaths. Notice what remains when a little weight is set down. When you’re ready, gently sense the possibility of moving forward again, lighter, steadier.

A year that begins in presence doesn’t rush.
It starts by listening.

As the year turns, I keep noticing the familiar pull of ' I should be doing something, deciding something, moving forward already. ' it can feel loud, directional, full of expectations.
And at the same time, there are parts that aren’t ready yet. Parts that feel cautious, tender. It can feel like being pulled forward while also holding back. A push and pull that lives not just in the mind, but in the body.
I’ve been wondering what it feels like to stay present, what is here?

To be, sensing the body, listening to the breath, presence in food, presence in social world, presence in devotion, presence in curiosity. How does that live?

Presence, for me, isn’t something we do. It’s something we allow. It’s the quiet moment when the body softens enough to be heard, when we stop negotiating with the year ahead and simply arrive.

BodyWise Somatic Training

A professional training in somatic movement, nervous system literacy, and embodied awareness.
This is not about perfect alignment or memorizing sequences.

It’s about learning to listen to the body—and teach from that place.
Inside the training:

◇ Somatic education & nervous system regulation
◇ Functional anatomy through felt experience
◇ Hanna Somatics & pandiculation
◇ Trauma-aware, non-corrective teaching principles
◇ Breath, movement, and perception as therapeutic tools
◇ Adaptation for limitations and chronic patterns
◇ Teaching skills rooted in presence, not performance

For yoga teachers, movement educators, therapists, and humans who want to move—and guide—more wisely.

Early bird now open.

Hatha and Sound is a lovely practice every Wednesday with Ram. Our regulars have been enjoying this class for a wee while, and new commers enjoy the meditative healing aspect different to most of our other sessions.

Today is last Wednesday of the year.
Come to 5:30pm for a Hatha & Sound movement and stretching practice.
Or stay for 7:15pm for our popular weekly Sound Journey with Ram.

✨ You Don’t Need to Be Musical to Be a Sound Healer ✨

One of the biggest myths I hear is this:

“I’d love to learn sound healing… but I’m not musical.”

Here’s the truth —
Sound healing is not about performance.
It’s about presence, listening, and intention.

You don’t need to read music.
You don’t need perfect rhythm.
You don’t need to “get it right”.

What matters most is:
• Your ability to listen deeply
• Your capacity to hold safe, grounded space
• Your willingness to work with sound as a felt experience, not a performance

The instruments do the work when you learn how to work with the body, the nervous system, and the field around a person.

Some of the most powerful sound healers I’ve trained:
✨ Had no musical background
✨ Were sensitive, intuitive, or body-aware
✨ Felt a quiet but persistent inner calling

If something in you feels drawn to sound —
that’s usually where the learning begins.

Our Sound Healing Practitioner Training is designed to teach sound as a therapeutic, embodied practice, not a musical one.

If you’ve ever thought “maybe this is for me” —
trust that curiosity.

🌟 Event January 3rd

I am really excited to offer this lovely space for the start of the year. I feel (myself) being pulled into resolutions and goal setting time. And yet, how special to Be in Presence.

This day is an invitation to slow right down, to listen to your body, and to begin the year from a place of steadiness rather than pressure. We’ll move gently with restorative yoga and somatic movement, creating space to rest, sense, and reconnect with what feels true for you.

Yes, it's that sweet time of year. Today, last Tuesday Yin Class for the year with Bhavani (Robbie is away).

Although we don't get those white Xmas days in NZ, it still feels like a snuggly time for being held into a restful lullaby.

I will be here today 5:30pm for a nourishing session with a Yin/restorative jazz. 🥰

The year’s final weeks often bring a mix of excitement, busyness, and a little overwhelm, a bit of December-itis. It’s that feeling when everything is urgent, yet your energy knows the end of year is near.

We invite you to slow down, enjoy the little moments, and soak in the joy of the season 🎄🎅 whether it’s connecting with loved ones, moving your body, or simply being present.

Here’s to a December full of heart, laughter, and what you love most. 💛
