Paul Norton Fitness . With over 5000 hour's of 1-1 coaching i have a lot of experience in the fitness field. I don't claim to know everything and we are always learning.

When we start any fitness goal it is always that starting point that we struggle with. My aim is to make the fitness industry simple and educate people as best i can. Fitness should be viewed as a fun hobbies that shouldn't involve giving up the good treats in life, but so many people fear fitness and think that making change involves 8 hours a day in the gym and eating chicken and lettuce for lif

e, WELL ITS NOT. You can lose weight by eating chocolate everyday,(don't very healthy) but it about small changes over a longer period. We need to learn the basics and evolve and improve along the way. I have created a online platform to share information to my clients but also help as many people as i can. Everyone has a different way of doing things but what has worked for me and the clients i have trained is accountability and having the basics set right from the start.

I’m quite nervous about this I won’t lie….

One thing about me is that I pride myself in practicing what I preach….

As a coach, we have I pretty easy….

We can go to the gym anytime of the day and spend 2+ hours in there…

We had it easy to meal prep or eat food anytime we want….

So I’ve decided to take it up a notch….

Over the next 4-5 weeks, I’ll be working on a farm, back to my roots….

Putting in some 15+ hour days, with no routine or control over my day to day actions…

Not knowing when I’ll get to the gym and really having to have my food in order….

My me, being able to show people that I’m a real person doing the exact same as them, means I can relate to more people, with the goal to help and inspire just one person 🙌

I know what it feels like

To wake up every day and wish you could disappear

Waking up in very day physically and mentally drained

No one understands what it feels like

But I do!

Its taken me 5 years to have the confidence to take my top off in public

The picture with me wearing a wine coloured top, was me at my heaviest

I was on holiday at the time, and I didn’t take my top off once on that whole trip

I felt so bad, that I wouldn’t be intimate with my partner unless I wore a top to cover myself

I never believed or felt good enough to think I could feel happy in my own skin again

Truth be told, I would have looked at that first picture and judged that leaner Paul

“ Who does he think he is going around with no top on “

“ This lad thinks he is so great “

“ I would never want to look like that, are he must have no life “

I would have judged that person so much, but that’s only because deep down I wanted to have that confidence to feel good

No matter what you’re feeling right now

Whatever your goal

You are good enough to feel better

You are good enough to get your dream result

And you deserve great things

I’ve been where you are right now, and it’s s**t

And I know that you might feel this is you forever

Nothing will ever change, or “ I’m too old, or “ I’m broken, I can’t lose weight..

I’ve told myself the exact same things, and I’m living proof that you can, and will turn it around

Without any crazy diets or pills

Without any crash rapid 6 weeks shred plan

Without the fear you’ll never have a social life

It’s never to late to start and your goal is never too big or too small

Your dream result is waiting for you, it’s only a matter of when and how you get there

Look at the next 12 weeks not the next 12 months

When you’ve reached certain goals in that 12 weeks, reset and set bigger ones

This is what helped me achieve what’s I’ve achieved

This came up on my memories…

I had this comment sent to me a while back….

This doesn’t bother me in the slightest

Guess what

I don’t have a six pack

I don’t have a shaved chest

I don’t wear fake tan

And I don’t work out 3 times a day

And I love Ice-cream

And this is what the fitness industry seems to be all about

Unless you have a “BEACH BODY”

You’re not deemed a professional

Seeing comments like this makes me even more passionate to do what I do

I’ve helped hundreds of females and males shift hundreds of kg of body weight

And all this while still having the foods they love and not spending hours in the gym

Most people in the fitness industry have time it work on twice a day

And they have the time to do it everything 100%

But when you have kids

And a full time job

And have a family to look after

And when you’re working with your menstrual cycle

I don’t expect you to be in the gym twice a day

And I don’t expect you to look like you’re taking part in the next bay watch movie

Fitness is not about this six pack image or having a shaved chest so my pecs look bigger

Fitness is about becoming the best version of yourself and improving your life for the better

Trust me, you don’t know want a six pack nor will you be happy

Instead work on making small improvements

Learn how your menstrual cycle works

Learn how to work with your cravings

And know that you can get results without having to starve yourself

Or give up your social life

So no I don’t have a six pack or a shaved check or 55 inch arms

But I’ve helped people all across the globe and I’ll continue to do so

So thanks for the comment because it’s given me more reason to do what I do

All you have to do is eat less and move more right?

Unfortunately this is the s**te that we’re still seeing on social media

We have coaches who’ve got their PT cert in a 2 weeks course, who’ve been in great shape all their lives

And boom they’re experts

So many of these online pages we see have never felt the pain

They’ve not spend years of their life lacking confidence or spent years wearing baggy clothes to hide themselves

They’ve never had such low body confidence they’d avoid social events

They’ve never tried all the fads, and quick fixes and still not gotten the results they’ve wanted

I have, I’ve been through all of this, so I know exactly how it feels

So to be told “ Eat less, move more “ is complete bollix

We all know how weight loss works, we need to be adhering to a calorie deficit, but if only it was that easy hey

When you’ve felt a certain way for years and years, it becomes your identity

So when you’ve finally had enough and you try to change it, it’s hard

It’s scary

And we’re filled with self doubt

I get it
This is normal, and this happens because we’re looking to change our identity to one that makes us feel more confident and happy

But if we’ve never felt like that before, we don’t know what it feels like

And this makes us doubt ourselves and we then start to struggle

When we struggle, we’re told “ Eat less, move more “
But this isn’t the issue

The issue is that we don’t believe in ourselves to becomes to better version of ourselves, so it’s easier to fall back into old habits and patterns

It can feel lonely when trying to get in shape by yourself, you feel like the “ odd one out “

Ever notice when you’ve set a goal with a friend, you’ve always smashed it??

It’s because you have someone who knows what your going through, and when it gets tough, they give you the boost and support you need

They don’t say “ eat less and move more“

You always know this, it’s that support and accountability that you need

Your environment will be key

Surround yourself with people who have the same goal as you

People who want to see you succeed and

This will be what you’ve been missing

Guess what....

I used to be a little overweight....

I used to have no confidence and I used to hate my own body....

And it’s taken me over 4years to lose over 35kg...

And I wouldn’t change any of it because it’s given me the drive to help others who’re doing through the exact same as I did.

I still don’t have a six pack..

Or a shaved shaved chest..

And I love ice cream way too much...

See comments like this dont bother me....

But what does bother me is this comment came from another coach yet again...

When I look on his page it’s full of topless photos with himself putting back oil all over their chest....

The sad part is people will actually fall for this bulls**te and buy their “ Magic shred plan “

I’ve no issues with that but when someone comes onto my page to try shame me, it’s not ok...

The reason the fitness industry is in such a bad place and the reason why more and more people are struggling with their body image, is because of people like this...

Someone who is in any good shape at all starts a Instagram page, takes a few selfies with baby oil on his chest and shaves his arse...

And calls himself a coach....

There’s so many great coaches out there but there’s also so many morons at the same time..

Fitness is about being the best version of yourself...

It’s about starting somewhere and trying to do your best each day and improving by just 1%

Heath and fitness is about looking in the mirror and feeling confident, to be able to have s*x with the lights and to walking up everyday excited for the day...

It’s not about having a six pack or being ripped as hell...

It’s not about worry about always being ripped all year around...

The reason I love helping people is because I know exactly how it feels

I’ve also seen my mum struggle so I’ve experienced it from both ends.

Fall in love with the process and don’t have any expectations or a timeframe and you’ll always stay winning.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the work my amazing client had achieved

Karen was already pretty active

She played football, was in different clubs and was doing classes 2-3 times per week

Yet, she wasn’t seeing any results even though she was so active

Although her nutrition was pretty good, there were still some gaps in it

One of the biggest things, was she was over training, and under eating in the weekdays

To completely go over board on the weekends, and barley consuming protein

So, you can imagine when I gave her the news that involved training less and eating more was the plan going forward

She thought I was joking, and it was a struggle at the start

But that struggle has he eating more food than ever before

She’s the fittest she’s ever been

And she’s gained the confidence to not be afraid to look at herself in the mirror

I couldn’t be any more prouder and the results she’s achieved

Are ones that she can sustain

This isn’t some cutter style approach program

This is about sustainable results long term

By the way……

It’s horrible!

You wake up every single day and you hate how you feel and how you look

You’ve no energy or motivation

You get anxiety when you’re asked to do things with your friends

You’re constantly pulling down your top or stretching in because of how tight it feels on your sides

I’ve been there and it’s s**t…

The only comfort you get is from eating…

The thought of change seems daunting….

The thought of believing that you can change this seems impossible

So, we tell ourselves all the reasons why we shouldn’t change…

I don’t have time

I don’t have money

We then go spend our weeks wages in the bar or on a holiday…

We spend our time in social media rather then planning and prepping

And I get it, this was me for years and years

I know I needed to change but I didn’t….

No one know what it felt like, everyone online was ripped and lean, they’d never felt like I did

So this made me put it off even more

It was then I found a coach who actually knew what it felt like, he’d gone through the same struggles as I did

With losing nearly 40kg lost now, it’s the best investment I’ve ever made into myself

Cutting back on takeaways and alcohol, not going on the holiday and putting it into my health and fitness, changed my life

Literally

There’s never going to be a good time

There’s always going to be things that get in the way

Putting your health and fitness first is the most important thing

Not the drinks

Not the takeaways

Not the holidays

If you feel a certain way and you know you need to change, ask yourself what is more important

This message is harsh but it the message I wish I’d been told when I struggled

This is something you didn’t know about me

Having a bad relationship with exercise can be just as bad a having a bad relationship with food.

Doing 100 burpees will help you lose weight?

False…

Doing 100 burpees will be painful 🥵

Doing 100 burpees or exercising 2 hours a day to lose weight is like having a cup of tea without the tea bag 🤷‍♂️

I speak to people every singe day and the biggest frustration they have is working out every single day but not seeing any results.

I was one of these people a few years ago....

I was in the gym 7 days a week and sometimes I would go twice a day.

I was obsessed and it took over my life....

I wasn’t seen any results so what did I do...

I spent more time in the gym and the truth was I was burned out.

I lost my se # drive as a result..

I was overeating on all the wrong foods and I was in a calories surplus..

But no one ever told me this...

My metabolism wasn’t broken…

I was broken and that was hard to admit.

You can’t out train a bad diet..

If you’re not reaching your goals it means that what you’re currently doing isn’t working.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

I had to learn this the hard way..

Rather than using exercise to lose weight..

Use exercise to improve your mental health..

Use exercise to feel good…

Use exercise to get stronger and fitter…

Use exercise to have YOU time…

Doing this is going to give you a better relationship with exercise and when you get your food on point..

Your results will come..

See it’s all too easy to get caught up on what we think we should be doing

Health and fitness puts so much pressure on people to look a certain way

If you’re not starving yourself or cutting out your favourite foods, it’s deemed as “ you don’t want it hard enough “

It’s mad

And I know for one the pressure it entails having gone through my own health and fitness journey

But health and fitness is more than a calorie target

It’s more than a weight loss goal

It’s more than a beach photo

Health and fitness is about living a overall happy and healthy life

To become that better version of yourself

To be in control of your own body

Waking up full of energy and motivation

To have a lifestyle that is healthy and active

That is what health and fitness is about

And as a by product

Your weight loss goal will come

I’m still very much out of my comfort zone while I post this

I may not be someones cup of tea

But I am someones shot of whiskey

Biggest thing I’ve learned this year is I can’t please everyone

I worry that because I’m a fitness professional and I don’t have a bulging six pack

Or a shaved chest....

Or look like the typical fitness guy....

That I’ll be judged...

Or not taken seriously...

I don’t do the typical pose with my top off for the likes

I’ve not got a six pack, in fact I’ve got a little pouch and that’s ok

What I’ve learned is when I try please everyone I get put to the side

And I don’t make myself happy

Don’t get me wrong

I still lack confidence but I’m finding that the more I can show people the real me

The more they see fitness in a better way....

In a way that they don’t feel they need to look a certain way on the beach

Here I am......

At the beach, playing with seaweed

And that’s what it’s all about right

If I can feel good and be fit for sports and feel strong

Then looking like a action man is not for me

I WANT YOU TO FEEL THE SAME

When you go to the beach have you ever felt like you didn’t belong there?

That was me only last year

I used to wear a singlet at the beach because I felt out of place

But losing weight and feeling good in my own skin made all the difference

And I know you would feel the exact same

The scales is only a number, a number that will fluctuate every single day

Some days it will be higher than others for no reason

It could be down to sleep, stress, hormones etc

As long as you’re being consistent with the basics, the rest will follow

Finding out what you actually need to eat first and foremost, knowing what foods to eat, and the the right amounts..

Will give you more freedom to enjoy thr treats and snacks you love, and not feel so restricted
