Noticing leaks when you laugh, pelvic heaviness, pain, or just not feeling “yourself” after having a baby?

You don’t have to put up with it and you don’t have to wait it out. Pelvic health physio is specialised care for the muscles, joints, and connective tissues that support bladder control, sexual function, childbirth recovery and core stability.

These areas matter more than most women realise… until something feels off. At New Plymouth Physiotherapy, our pelvic health service is led by Sante Beasant - a UK-trained physio with 10+ years experience in women’s health and paediatrics.

She uses a combination of hands-on treatment, targeted exercises and education to help you:

• Rebuild pelvic floor and core strength
• Reduce pain or discomfort
• Recover after pregnancy or birth
• Understand what’s normal and what’s not
• Feel confident and supported in your body again

Whether you’re weeks postpartum, years down the track or navigating pregnancy pain, you deserve support that actually helps.

Sante is an ACC-registered provider for women’s health conditions, including birth injuries. No referral needed.

Take the first step in feeling like yourself again ✨ https://www.npphysio.co.nz/our-services/pelvic-health/

A reminder:
The more you invest in your wellbeing, the more capacity you’ll have for everything else.

When you give your body what it needs - rest, movement, support, recovery. You’re not stepping away from your life. You’re strengthening your ability to show up for it.

Small choices matter. A full night’s sleep, a walk when your mind feels crowded, treating a ni**le before it becomes a problem… these are the things that keep you going.

Looking after yourself isn’t extra. It’s what makes everything else possible 💛

Patient Win Using VALD Testing ✨
One of our patients just completed 6 weeks of targeted strength training and the progress speaks for itself.

📈 Strength increased by 106%
From 218N (force output) to 467N

VALD testing lets us measure muscle strength with precision, so we can build a rehab plan that genuinely targets what your body needs. When we can measure it, we can improve it and this result is a perfect example.

If you’ve had an injury or feel like your progress has plateaued, VALD testing shows exactly where you’re at and what you need to work on next.

November is the month where activity loads quietly ramp up - more daylight, summer sports, gardening and the end-of-year rush.

Your body feels it before you do.
Try this 5-minute “tissue prep” routine before any activity - whether it’s sport, walking the dog, yard work, or a gym session:

• Cat–Camel × 10 - wake up the spine.
• Glute activations: Mini band lateral walks × 2 sets of 10 steps.
• Ankle mobility: Knee-to-wall × 10 each.
• Dynamic stretch: Leg swings or arm circles × 20.
• Primer: 10 air squats + 10 light push-ups (on a bench if needed).

Why it matters:
Even five minutes of movement makes your tissues more compliant. Helping reduce early-summer injury risk and improving performance.✨

Burgers, bowls and a bit of healthy competition 🥳

Last Thursday, the NP Physio team took the afternoon off for a little midweek reset - takeaway burgers from Arizona and a few rounds of lawn bowls in the sun.⚡

Sometimes it’s the old injuries we forget about that cause the most trouble later on.
Even when the pain fades, your body can still be compensating - creating small imbalances that slowly build up over time.

If something’s been feeling “off” lately, it might be worth checking in before it becomes a bigger issue.

Our physios are here to help and yes, our Walk-In Injury Clinic is open this Sunday if you need us. No bookings needed. 💛

Ever wondered where your body needs more strength or support?

VALD testing helps us measure it and track your progress as you recover or build strength.

For our physios, it means clearer insight into where your body needs strengthening. For you, it means a smarter, more individualised approach to recovery and performance.

Ask your physio about our new VALD testing system next time you’re in! ✨
