We’re keeping a close eye on cyclone activity in the Pacific particularly Severe Tropical Cyclone Vaianu, which is expected to move south and transition into an Ex tropical cyclone as it tracks towards New Zealand this weekend.

At this stage it’s still a few days away and there is uncertainty in the track, and it impacts. It’s likely we will see heavy rain and strong winds on Sunday through to Monday in Taranaki.

Now is a good take to take a few simple steps while the weather is still calm.

➡️Clear gutters and drains
➡️Bring in or secure outdoors items
➡️Stay up to date with forecasts (download the MetService App and turn on Severe Weather notifications)
➡️Remove any debris or loose items from around your property. Branches and firewood can become airborne in strong winds.
➡️Move farm animals to areas that are safe from flooding and high winds.
➡️Follow our local council pages

Happy Easter Everyone🐰🥚🍫

It’s that time of year again when prevention is easier than cure.

The clocks go back on Easter Sunday, signalling the arrival of winter. The winter bugs are already circulating, so while you’re still feeling well, it’s a good time to boost your immune system in preparation for the cooler months and the associated illnesses.

A course of Buccaline provides three months’ protection against the bacterial complications of a cold by stimulating lymphocytes – the body’s first line of defence against colds. This means if you do catch a cold, your immunity is in a much stronger position to fight off serious bacterial complications that can arise with a weakened immune system.
