Rain recently took part in the Birkenhead Health Expo with a packed-out session on Demystifying Acupuncture — clearly, there’s a growing interest in how this powerful approach can support your health journey.

At our clinic, we have three practitioners trained in acupuncture as well as Osteopathy, two treatment approaches that work beautifully together. So if you’ve hit a plateau with standard manual therapy, adding in a little acupuncture might be just the thing to get things moving again.

As Autumn rolls over us we say goodbye to Chris but hello to Vicki!

Chris is off to a new life in England and its with sadness we bid adieu but wish him the best of luck, no doubt tramping across all of Europe. However we welcome Vicki Cox on board!

Vickis a well travelled and experienced Osteopath where her interest in health and well-being has derived from an early interest in yoga movement and philosophy and ayurvedic therapy, which she studied while travelling in India in 2008. She has experience in treating a broad variety of musculoskeletal conditions ranging from acute sports and recreational injury, to chronic and age related biomechanical changes.

Christmas hours you ask? Ask no more! , we will be closed the week of the 25th but myself & Chris will around on the 3rd-5th January with a range of appointment times to help with those xmas day accidents (no your not 16 anymore and when you get dumped in the surf on your kids wakeboard, your going to get hurt 🙂 )

Lets keep talking about walking,;
We've already mentioned how short walks throughout your day may provide essential movement that your back needs to prevent the onset of low back pain. Walking's also one of the most accessible movements we can do to head off as lot of other health problems that go a lot deeper and cause a lot more problems (we're talking heart health as one example)

Here's some walking 101 tips, (yes you know how to walk, but your probably doing some of it wrong)

• Imagine a balloon attached to your head and pulling you straight up. You want to walk tall rather than sinking into your hips, or slumped over like a teen on thier phone
• Slightly lean forward from your hips and propel yourself forward with your backside.
• Brace your core as you walk (Contract your abs, but not as extreme like your doing situps)
• Step onto a bent knee, not with a locked knee.
• Walk at the pace that feels right for you (pain-free)
• Let your arms swing somewhat freely (with relaxed shoulders)
• Breathe normally as you walk
