Pilates is about reconnecting with your body, feeling where it is in space not observing (no mirrors here) and being with your breath.

No idea what to expect? Consultations can be booked and you'll be walked through the studios equipment, the principals that maintain the integrity our movement and the foundational exercises that are the base from which we build from.

Its not about 'getting back into it', it's about finding your exercise routine that works for you right now - family life, work commitments, your current health and being real with your energy levels. It's about acknowledging the stress and emotional loads that hinder not only finding the time to move your body but completely mess with your hormones.

Lead Instructor Nara is Comprehensively STOTT Trained Pilates Instructor and Qualified Personal Trainer (AUT), has 3 children, 2 grandchildren, runs an Ag Contracting business with her husband and has had a rollercoaster of health problems from Hashiomotos to Adenomyosis to herniated discs. She knows how hard it is to juggle life and everything that comes with it! Nara is here for you to set realistic goals, creating functional fitness programming and support.

This is about longevity, building strong bodies and strong mindsets.

It's three-dimensional, it's lateral, it's deep, it's felt in the front the sides and the back.

It is the diaphragm and pelvic floor working together, in rhythm.

Its a representation of our emotions, how clam we are, how stressed or raging.

This is your reminder to check in with your breath, no matter what your doing or where you are just simply feel the depth of your breathing. Adjust accordingly.

Here at Grey Heron Studios we teach Contemporary Pilates, the STOTT method adapts Joseph Pilates original frame work and integrates biomechanics, rehabilitation and continues to evolve with the advances in exercise science.
This method offers modifications and props, opening the door for everyBODY to experience Pilates.

Grey Heron Studios is the first to bring the complete method this far north, it's been 2 years of traveling up and down the country, early mornings and late nights, juggling family, overlapping businesses but its here and it has been worth it!

Sharing the complete method with the Far North community for me means I can rest easy knowing everyone who comes through my door is experiencing actual Pilates.
