✨ A Little Family Update from Our Pharmacy ✨

We are excited to share that we have recently welcomed a beautiful new baby into our family.

As we take a little time to adjust, recover, and soak in these precious early weeks, we will be stepping back slightly from day-to-day pharmacy duties over the next little while.

During this time, we are so pleased to introduce our wonderful locum pharmacist, Hamza, who will be with us until the end of March.
Hamza is Deema's brother, and is an experienced and caring pharmacist who shares our commitment to providing safe, thorough, and friendly service to our community.

Our pharmacy remains open as usual, and our amazing team is here to continue looking after you.

From 1 February 2026, some people with stable, long-term health conditions may be able to get prescriptions that last up to 12 months.

🔴 It is not up to the pharmacist to decide the length of your prescription.

🔴 Only your doctor or prescriber decides if you are eligible for 12-month prescription for your medicines. Ask your doctor or prescriber if 12-month prescriptions are right for you.

🔴 The maximum quantity of medicine that can be legally supplied from the pharmacy at any one time remains at three months (six months for oral contraceptives). Depending on your medicines, some medicines will need to be dispensed monthly, others can be dispensed three monthly at once.

🔴 The increased prescribing limit won’t apply to controlled drugs medicines.
Controlled drugs will have the same restrictions as before.

🔴 Some controlled drugs can only be prescribed for 1 month at a time, while some non‑opioid controlled drugs may be prescribed for up to 3 months. Controlled drugs are also supplied in smaller amounts such as 10 or 30 days.

🔴 Repeat supplies - You’ll need to collect any repeat supplies of your medicines from the same pharmacy where you first collected your medicines. Repeats can’t be transferred between pharmacies.

🔴 New prescriptions for fully funded medicines are still 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 at 𝐎𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 if you are

- Aged 13 years or under
- A Community Services cardholder (or a dependent child of a cardholder)
- Aged 65 years or over
- Hold a Prescription Subsidy Card (PSC)

🔴 If you do not fall into any of the eligible groups above, the government will collect a $5 fee when you collect your first supply of each medicine. You will only need to pay the $5 co-payment once a year per medicine if your doctor provides you with 12-month prescription.

Just a reminder of some our services that we provide at Oakura pharmacy. You do not need to book in advance (except for ear piercings during busy seasons). Walk-ins are welcome. Please feel free to contact us or talk to us if you have questions or would like to know more.

Pharmacist services will require an assessment conducted by our pharmacist to ensure eligibility criteria are met and we can supply you the medicine or treatment required.

Oakura Pharmacy's Operating Hours

Please check our operating hours for the holiday season.

Our normal operating hours will resume in the new year from 5th of January 2026.

It is a great time to check if you have everything you need to stay well an enjoy the break.

✅️ Organise your medicines and repeats early
✅️ Make sure you won’t run out over the holidays
✅️ Request any prescription renewals ahead of time
✅️ Check your essential medicines if you’re travelling (inhalers, EpiPens, diabetes supplies, pain relief, motion sickness tablets, sunscreen, first aid items)

We’re here to help make things easier, come in store or give us a call if you need support getting everything sorted before the holiday rush.
