Balance and Ease
Sabina completed her postgraduate diploma in veterinary acupuncture in early 2018, an internationally veterinary qualification recognized by IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society), with a focus on equine acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Over the last 3 years, Sabina also completed TCVM courses via the Chi Institute in Florida on veterinary acupuncture and Chinese Food Therapy.
In addition, she is a Professional Myofascial Release Therapist and an accredited equine breed judge (Purebred Spanish Horses) via the Spanish College of Judges.
Originally from Germany, Sabina has lived in NZ for 30 years and has had a lifelong involvement with horses, having managed her own boutique Sporthorse breeding stud with her husband for over 25 years. With a keen interest in dressage training, she has been a student of classical teaching philosophies mainly following the methods of classical German dressage Masters and the Portuguese Master Nuno Oliveira for over 20 years.
The added understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, obtained during her early studies as veterinarian, enable her to emphasize on correct preparation of horses for use under saddle, to ensure the horse’s long term health and wellbeing; as well as helping riders with retraining of horses to enable straightness and balance of their equine partner.
Combining the ability to treat your equine partner with complementary modalities (acupuncture, myofascial release, food, herbs) and help you with sound training advise, give the horse owner the opportunity to take a maximum benefit from any therapy/training session.
Sabina works closely with existing equine veterinarians and equine veterinary clinics and points out that TCVM modalities work best when integrated with conventional treatments and diagnostic procedures for the benefit of the horse patient.
Also having spent several years in clinical research and teaching posts, Sabina is available for talks and presentations to groups, riding clubs, breed societies as well as treatments and training sessions in areas outside the Waikato for groups of 5 and over.
