Meet our conference speakers
Gundy & Lisa Anderson - Bog Roy Station
Lisa and Gundy are sheep and beef farmers from Bog Roy Station, in the South Island, New Zealand. Having taken over the farm from Gundy’s family more than 20 years ago, they quickly faced the reality of heavy debt, succession pressures, and the ongoing challenges of farming under increasing costs, compliance, and public scrutiny.

Their journey has been one of resilience and adaptation - from navigating financial strain and unexpected setbacks, to rethinking how they farm, manage their land, and approach business. Alongside improving livestock performance and securing their land through freeholding, they’ve also learned the importance of balance, systems, and stepping back when needed.

Today, farming is part of their lives, but it no longer defines all of it. Gundy has found new energy in multi-sport and the outdoors, while Lisa shares her passion for health and wellbeing through yoga, Pilates, and breathwork. Together, they are focused on raising their children with a sense of joy, balance, and connection, while continuing to live and work on the land they love.

At Taking Stock 2025, Lisa and Gundy will share their story of farming through pressure, finding perspective, and pursuing a sustainable and fulfilling life on and beyond the land.

This week in our Yin class, during our breath flow, I encouraged everyone to hum on their exhales. I could feel hesitation in the room, but I was stoked they gave it a go.

And what happened next was magic.

As we moved through the class, I noticed some people chose to keep humming, even after we’d moved on. It was clear something landed, and that their bodies felt the benefit.

It made me reflect on how often we in the West get self-conscious about these ancient, intuitive tools. Things our bodies already know.

✨ And Humming is one of them.

Humming stimulates the vagus nerve - a key part of the nervous system that supports rest, digestion, and emotional balance. It lowers heart rate, reduces anxiety, and reduces tension.

And we do it instinctively:
– Mums hum to soothe babies.
– Children hum to self-regulate.
– We hum along to music often without realising it, but because it feels good.

Research backs this up: when mothers hum during skin-to-skin care, babies’ heart rates lower and oxygen improves. In adults, humming has been shown to reduce cortisol and shift us into calm.

So next time you catch yourself humming… know that your body is self-regulating. Coming home to itself.

Want to try it?
👉 Inhale gently through your nose
👉 Exhale with a soft, low hum
👉 Repeat for a minute or two, and notice how your body responds

Or if that feels weird, just wait for the next song that lights you up and consciously hum along, knowing that you’re nourishing your nervous system in the most beautiful, simple way.

This is one of many small but powerful tools I share in my classes. Because healing doesn’t need to be complicated or out of a pill bottle, it can be as simple as a hum.

This year, I’ve found myself deep in study, completing my Pilates teacher training while also doing my Master’s in Breathwork.

At first, I saw them as separate threads. Different practices I felt drawn to, not fully sure how they would come together. But yesterday something clicked. I realised this was never a coincidence. These two modalities weren’t on their own - they were always meant to weave together.

Joseph Pilates himself believed that "Breathing is the first act of life and the last... above all, learn how to breathe correctly."
His method was never just about core strength or precision. It was about breath-led movement. About cultivating awareness and presence through the breath - before and during movement. He was influenced by yoga and understood, even then, the power of the breath to calm the nervous system and support the body from the inside out.

This links so naturally with my years of yoga teaching and the practice of pranayama, where breath is a tool for healing, energy, and presence. These ancient teachings have shown us for thousands of years that the breath is not just a function, but a way back to ourselves.

For someone like me, who grew up with asthma and has known the anxious grip of disconnection from the breath, this work has been profound. I used to think I just needed to “get fitter” or “breathe better.” What I’ve come to learn is that movement and breath aren’t two different approaches to healing. They’re one and the same.

When we move with conscious breath, as Pilates intended, we’re not just strengthening muscles, we’re recalibrating our nervous system, re-patterning our breath, and rebuilding that relationship with ourselves.

So no, it’s not a coincidence that I’m studying both breathwork and Pilates. They’re two sides of the same coin. And together, they offer something truly powerful: healing from the inside out 🙏

We’re leaning into the quiet strength of winter this week – where not much seems to be happening on the surface, but deep down, something is gently beginning to shift. ‘Still waters run deep’ as they say.

It’s the season for slow breaths, supported shapes, and maybe a few creaky joints saying hello before they melt into a bolster.

This is a class for anyone who wants to feel rested, stretched, recharged – and maybe even surprised by how good doing “very little” can feel 😉

If you’ve never been before, this is a perfect week to join us. No experience needed – just your body and your breath.

Much love

You asked - I listened!
New Monday 5:30pm Class 🌿💪

Hi Everyone

I was asked this week if I’d do an evening Stretch & Strength class for anyone - I’ve listened and I’m looking forward to offering a new time slot:

🕠 Mondays at 5:30pm

This is a blend of yoga-style stretches and the strength and stability of Pilates - a Stretch & Strength class for everyone.

It’s the perfect way to start your week - moving your body, breathing deeper, and giving yourself the time and space to feel grounded and strong. A great way to set the tone for your week ahead.

Whether you’re winding down from a busy day or just needing a bit of “you” time, I’d love to see you there.

Head to the booking site to grab your spot.

Much love
Lisa 🙏💚

Out in nature, everything has a season.
Trees slow down in winter. Animals hibernate. The land rests.
But somewhere along the way, we stopped listening to that rhythm.

We learned to push through, keep going, and ignore the signs of tiredness, tightness, and tension - until our bodies or minds force us to stop.

This 8-week Yin Yoga block is about coming back into alignment... with the seasons, with our breath, and with what our bodies actually need.

Each class offers time to slow down, stretch out, and reconnect with that natural rhythm, so you feel more grounded, more clear, and more like yourself again.

Join me, starting this week, either for the block, or drop in casually when you can.

Much love
Lisa 🙏💚
