A beautiful morning spent together at our Rongoā Māori workshop 🌿
Alongside our Ka p**a Ka ora Emerge Aotearoa whānau, we shared mātauranga, learned the healing properties of our native plants, and created rongoā with our own hands.
Grounded in the whenua and guided by the wisdom of our tīpuna, these spaces remind us that healing is collective, cultural, and deeply connected.

He taonga tuku iho, to learn it, to share it, to keep it alive 💚

From painting their pots to bringing them to life 🌱 our kaumātua are now planting their own māra.

Today’s herbs: chives, coriander & parsley 🌿
Finding the kupu Māori along the way, koriana, pāhiri, riki iti.

Plenty of laughs, learning, and hands in the soil 🤍
Can you guess which kupu matches each herb? 👀

Once we were gardeners 🌱
Our tīpuna lived by tikanga and kawa, cultivating the whenua and sustaining our people. When Māori were stripped of their land, reo, and ways of being, disruption and intergenerational harm followed.

Before Once were Warriors we were once Gardeners. 🌿
