This Saturday, two of our team, Bri & Lynda are taking on the Sky Tower Challenge in Auckland, climbing 1,103 steps to the top in full firefighting gear. Itโ€™s a tough physical & mental challenge, all for an incredibly important cause.

They're doing this to raise funds for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, supporting patients and families going through some of the hardest battles imaginable.

Training's done, their lungs will be burning, and legs will definitely be feeling itโ€ฆ but they're ready to give it everything they've got. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’™

If youโ€™re able to support them, theyโ€™d be hugely grateful for any donation, big or small. Every bit makes a real difference.

Important Update to Your Health Information Privacy

At Tuapeka Community Health, we want to keep you informed about how we manage and protect your health information.

Recent changes to the Privacy Act require us to notify patients when information about them is collected from other agencies.

We have recently updated our Health Information Privacy Statement to include this advice:

Tuapeka Community Health can collect information from other agencies to maintain up-to-date health records and provide safe, quality primary health care.

This may include:
โ€ข Receipt of laboratory, radiology or other results
โ€ข Shared electronic health records, such as HealthOne, which provides test results, allergies, medications, clinician summaries and hospital information shared by other providers involved in my care.
โ€ข Correspondence from after-hours services, hospitals and specialists, which can include discharge summaries, specialist letters, lab and imaging results.
โ€ข Letters and notifications from referral providers reporting back on health or screening programmes for which I have been referred (for example, Green Prescription, smoking cessation, dietitian).
โ€ข Information from Health NZ and our PHO regarding updated demographic, NHI or eligibility information.
โ€ข Contact from or correspondence from non-health agencies such as Police, legal representatives, Oranga Tamariki, insurance companies, Ministry of Social Development (Work and Income New Zealand) and the Accident Compensation Corporation
โ€ข Receipt of correspondence from employers, regarding, for example, fitness to work

Please be assured that all information is handled securely and in line with privacy laws. You also have the right to access and request corrections to your health information at any time.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us ๐Ÿ’™

We are very grateful to have recently received $1,000 from the Clutha Foundation Lawrence Tuapeka Community Fund, which has contributed to our Pay It Forward account.

Our Pay It Forward account was established in 2023, when a caring community member decided to cover the flu vaccinations for two other community members.

This account is always in credit, meaning funds are available to help those who need financial assistance access the healthcare they require.

Members of our community who wish to help others can ask us to add funds to the Pay It Forward account. We can then use this money to pay for health services for those in needโ€”no questions asked.

To explain the concept of "paying it forward" simply: when someone does something kind for you, instead of returning the favour directly, you should pass that kindness on to another person.

Kindness Pays It Forwardโ€”thank you to everyone who helps make this possible!
