~Ngā Poukai

On Sunday, our resident Mihi Jones (née Ngāti Kahugunu) was formally welcomed onto Te Tokanganui a Noho (Te Kuiti Pā) for Ngā Poukai. In a special moment, Mihi was presented with taonga in front of the Māori Queen, Ngā Wai hono i te pō, alongside kaumātua (elders) and her whānau.
The occasion was a significant honour, and Mihi found the day thoroughly rewarding.

Ngā Poukai is an annual series of visits by the Māori Queen to Kiingitanga marae around and beyond the Waikato region, a tradition that dates back to the late 19th century.

A special thank you to Slavica from Beattie Home & Hospital for accompanying Mihi and her family on this momentos day✨

We are excited to share that we have received our new bladder scanner for our residents here at Beattie Home & Hospital; a much needed piece of hospital equipment. This purchase was made possible thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and all those who supported/sponsored the King Country Garden Ramble in November.

A very special thank you goes to Katrina Christison - Ōtorohanga Deputy Mayor for organising the Garden Ramble with half of the proceeds donated to Friends of Beattie, who then passed the funds on to us. We’d also like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful ladies at Friends of Beattie who helped with fundraising through the raffles sold at Christmas and the Garden Ramble and to all those who donated goods/purchased tickets.

We would also like to extend thanks to Cynthia at OTL Group Ltd whose contribution completed the remaining amount needed to purchase the bladder scanner.

The scanner is a significant win for Beattie Home & Hospital, and we are grateful for everyone who played a part in making this happen ❤️

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa

Update on MediMap Cyber Incident

You may have heard about the recent cyber incident affecting MediMap, the digital medication management platform used by aged care facilities, hospitals and other clinical providers across Aotearoa.

We want to reassure all families and whānau that your loved ones continue to receive safe, consistent clinical care.

While MediMap is offline, our team has moved to trusted manual processes to ensure medications are administered accurately and without interruption.

Our priority remains the wellbeing and safety of every resident, and our staff are working diligently to maintain the high standard of care you expect.
