Beresford Heights
Located in the heart of The Catlins, Beresford Heights offers boutique accommodation surrounded by breath taking views. Situated on top of Table Hill, this newly built retreat is the perfect romantic, off the grid, get away for couples craving a luxurious, peaceful rural escape.
Running the length of the lodge is a deck, which features a lovely hot tub and sweeping panoramic views. Indoors is a comfortable seating area for relaxing, reading, or taking in the views. And as well as the full kitchen including all of the basics, there is also an outdoor barbecue. Continental breakfasts are provided, and for dinner guests can self-cater or order a Beresford Bundle full of local delicacies to cook, accompanied by home-made salads - delivered to the door. Fully catered meals can also be arranged prior to arrival.
Beresford Heights was established by Warren and Stephanie Burgess, the third generation of the Burgess family to live on and farm this 1200 hectare property which has a heavy focus on Stud Simmental cattle: Beresford Simmentals. The idea of creating this unique Haven and sharing the tranquil landscape the Burgess family are so fortunate to live in has been a joint family project. Beresford Heights offers guests an escape from their busy lifestyle in a private and magical hide away. Guests can enjoy scenic walks through native bush, walk part of the Matai Falls Rail Trail or take a short drive to nearby waterfalls and beaches. Guests wishing to gain a glimpse of traditional kiwi farming may take a farm tour or watch working dog demonstrations. For the more adventurous and adrenaline seeking guests, guided hunting trips for fallow and red deer are available. Some enjoy being pampered by the local massage therapist within the privacy of the lodge, then rejuvenating in the hot tub with its stunning views of The Catlins and Cannibal Bay. For some, the opportunity to trade-in their busy lifestyle and relax in this magical hideaway is the highlight of their stay at Beresford Heights.
Getting there is fun. After driving through The Catlins, guests are greeted by hosts Stephanie and Warren Burgess. They’ll help transfer belongings to a comfortable All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), before embarking on a 15 minute, off-road journey across their working farm to the summit of Table Hill, where the lodge awaits for guests to relax and unwind.
