Do you believe that every child and young person in New Zealand deserves the best start to life and what they eat and drink is vital for optimal physical and mental health? Do you believe that schools have a responsibility to only give our kids access to healthy food and drinks?

The current regulations for food standards in schools are expiring in January 2023 and the Ministry of Education is in the process of deciding what should replace them.
We’re really worried about the Ministry’s preferred option which excludes secondary schools from having to provide healthy food and drinks.
Will you support our petition calling for all schools and Kura Kaupapa Māori schools to only provide access to healthy food and drinks?
Research has demonstrated that children who eat healthy food are better able to concentrate in class and learn.(1) If we want to ensure all young people and children and young people can enjoy learning and achieve their potential at school, then we need to make sure the food and drinks they have at school are healthy.
Right now we have a rare opportunity to improve learning outcomes for every child and young person across Aotearoa, will you help us grab it?
