AgriSea NZ Seaweed Ltd NZ's leading Biological inputs company for Farm, Lifestyle, Horticulture, Viticulture, Apiculture

Consumers around the world are demanding that their food is produced in a sustainable manner, grown with fewer chemical inputs, are traceable, ethical and transparent. Biostimulants are a fast growing solution that addresses both economic and environmental concerns whilst producing top quality, high value, products. AgriSea New Zealand is an award winning, Māori family owned seaweed company at the forefront of the biostimulant industry in NZ – they are the single biggest investor in research for the sector and have been helping farmers and growers for over 25 years. AgriSea’s biostimulant technology and advanced fermentation system is unique in the world and utilises the brown kelp Ecklonia radiata. AgriSea has a range of high nutrition products for the primary sectors including soil, plant, animal and bee nutrition. AgriSea products are widely used in the agriculture, (dairy & drystock), viticulture, horticulture, and apiculture markets in NZ and to a growing export clientele. With a clear, long term R&D strategy in place, which includes the whole supply chain, novel macro algae species and human nutrition, AgriSea is committed to providing innovative, proven and effective seaweed products that add value to people and planet.

Building Momentum in New Zealand’s Bioeconomy

Key government leaders and science innovators came together to celebrate the progress being made within New Zealand’s growing bioeconomy sector.

The event featured Hon Dr Shane Reti, Hon Scott Simpson, Mark Piper, and Dr Stefan Hill, all highlighting the collaboration already underway, including the merger of the “Fantastic Four of the Bioeconomy”: AgResearch, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, Scion, and Plant & Food Research.

AgriSea was proud to share our partnership with Scion, where we’re scaling a Seaweed Nanocellulose Biorefinery to turn seaweed by-products into high-value materials for use in wound healing, filtration, cosmetics, batteries and more.

Circular bioeconomy in action, transforming waste into opportunity and science into sustainable solutions for land, people and the future.

Te Arawa Arataua Agribusiness Summit

Clare Bradley represented AgriSea at the Te Arawa Arataua Agribusiness Summit, an inspiring day bringing together leaders and innovators in the Māori agribusiness space.

The summit featured a strong line-up of speakers, including Hon Todd McClay, Nanaia Mahuta, Dr Tanira Kingi, and Clare herself, with Stacey Morrison as MC.

Te Arawa Arataua represents over 30,000 hectares of Māori-owned land, focused on new opportunities, optimising returns, and addressing challenges such as freshwater management and climate change, while supporting hapū and iwi development.

Clare’s kōrero reinforced the importance of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, values that align closely with AgriSea’s ongoing commitment to caring for whenua and wai, and building resilience for future generations.

A big thank you to Dr Tanira Kingi and the Te Arawa Arataua team for their warm hosting and support.

From Sea to Table: A Vision of Zero-Input Ocean Farming

At this year’s Evoke Ag event in Australia, AgriSea’s Clare Bradley joined global ocean farming pioneer Bren Smith to explore the future of food and farming.

Bren’s vision reimagines how we grow food — not on land, but beneath the waves. His concept of 3D Ocean Farming creates underwater vertical farms that need no feed, no fertiliser, no fresh water, and no land. Just sunlight, seaweed, and shellfish working together in harmony with the ocean.

It’s a system that restores marine ecosystems while producing nutritious food, using nature’s own design. As water scarcity and climate pressures grow, the ocean could hold the key to a truly regenerative food future.

Why Settle for Basic Soil Testing?

Most standard soil tests only show the bare minimum, such as pH, major cations, and a few key nutrients. What they miss is the real engine of your farm: the biological health of your soil.

AgriSea Soil Testing goes beyond chemistry to measure the biological activity and resilience of your soil.

Our tests reveal:
• How well your soil can retain nutrients and reduce leaching
• The link between carbon, organic matter, and soil life
• Micronutrient reserves that drive enzyme function, plant immunity, and productivity

By understanding what is locked up in your soil, not just what is soluble right now, you can farm in partnership with your soil biome instead of chasing fertiliser results.

New findings from a Lincoln University on-farm study show that lambs grazing AgriSea Biostimulant treated ryegrass–white clover pastures had 18% higher average daily gain from lambing to weaning when compared to lambs on untreated rye–clover (384.9 vs 324.7 g/day).

Using the study’s weaning age (average of 80 days), that’s an average lamb weight of 30.8 kg on the biostimulant treated pasture vs 26.0 kg on untreated - about +4.8 kg extra per lamb over the pre-weaning period.

Ewes on the same rye and clover pastures also pulled ahead: 89.1 g/day on treated vs 16.5 g/day on untreated. Over the ewe sampling window (average of 72 days postpartum) that equates to 5.2 kg more weight gain per ewe.

More growth and better energy balance, same farm system. 🌱🐑

Prime the soil biome-prime the season.
Spring is when the soil biome can make or break pasture performance. AgriSea Soil Nutrition switches on the microbial engine that aggregates soil, improves infiltration, and unlocks nutrients after winter - so roots explore further and growth ramps steadily, not in short-lived flushes.

Over the top, AgriSea Pasture Nutrition (seaweed extract) supports the plant’s photosynthetic machinery - from chlorophyll production to leaf recovery after grazing. Seaweed’s natural bioactives nudge metabolism for efficient carbon capture and balanced growth, without forcing soft, fast-fade bulk.

The payoff for NZ farmers: pasture that handles frequent rotations, holds quality longer, and turns rising daylength into real dry matter - built on a living soil engine that keeps paying through summer.
Proudly made in Aotearoa from sustainably harvested New Zealand seaweed.
