A lovely scenic drive out to Pohangina led us to the café for a beautiful afternoon tea. Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate was served alongside their famous scone with raspberry jam and cream — the perfect combination!

Sixteen villages came together to enjoy the outing, and by all accounts, everyone had a wonderful time.

The building has recently been painted and freshened up by the Council, and the ladies are now hoping to have the kitchen updated next. Spread the word among your friends — every little bit of support will help them reach this goal.

A big thank you to our drivers for getting everyone there and back safely!

Another fantastic outing, this time to the Durie Hill Tunnel and Elevator in Whanganui. Our wonderful tour guide, Anthonie, led us through the 100+ year-old facility and shared its rich history in a wonderful lighting and AV display before guiding us through the tunnel and up the mercury-powered elevator for a stunning view of the city and beyond. Thankfully we didn't have to take the stairs (pictured) as people had to pre-1919.

Te Ahu a Turanga - Manawatu- Tararua Highway In the latter part of June, several trips were made over the impressive new highway — a perfect winter outing! Each journey took us through to Woodville, where we enjoyed a warm and welcoming morning tea, complete with a nice cuppa and a hot, hot chocolate to keep the chill at bay.

The return leg offered time to take in the breathtaking views and marvel at the incredible engineering feat that brought this stunning stretch of road to life. A wonderful mix of comfort, company, and curiosity — we’re already looking forward to the next adventure!

Southwards Car Museum A small but enthusiastic group braved the wet and wild weather to explore the world-class vehicle collection at Southward Car Museum.

The trip sparked fond memories and lively conversation about times gone by. There were smiles all around as we admired the incredible display — and even spotted a potential candidate for our next Village Van (though, sadly, we couldn’t take it home with us!).

On ANZAC morning, residents gathered at the Community Centre to commemorate and pay respect to all New Zealanders who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations over the years, while also marking the anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps’ (ANZAC) landing at Gallipoli in 1915 — a pivotal moment in New Zealand's history
Thank you to the organisers and everyone who attended and contributed to this wonderful event, with special mention to those who conducted the service — Canon John Neal, Glenice Gust (Pianist), Pat Bellhouse, Keith Bellhouse, Ian Douglas, Barbara Smith, and Malcolm Dew.
A big thank you also to everyone who baked (by all accounts) delicious ANZAC biscuits for everyone to enjoy with a cuppa after the service.
We are also pleased to share that the village has received a message of thanks from the Palmerston North RSA Welfare Trust for our generous support of the Poppy Appeal raising over $240.

After doing a fantastic job cleaning the Community Centre earlier this year, Jade from JTSoftwash.co.nz returned for a full week to make the entire village sparkle — and what a difference it made!

We've received an incredible amount of positive feedback from residents, all praising the fresh, clean look and Jade's attention to detail.
A huge thank you to Jade for your hard work to keep our community looking its best!

VINTAGE AVIATORS - On Saturday the 22nd with the Van heading over to Hood Aerodrome in Masterton to take in a private tour of the facilities and the sights of replica WWI aircraft in flight, and what a day it was.
Scott from TVAL met us and took us through the main hanger for a private tour sharing an incredible amount of knowledge and understanding as to the history of not only the machines, but their construction and the people that flew and maintained them. I personally was amazed as to the detail of the replicas. Alongside machines that flew over the trenches in WWI it was impossible to tell the difference between them, such is the standard.
Whilst the planes themselves were off limits to us handling them, we were shown and able to handle samples of the fabric that are used in their construction and a WWI bomb, thank goodness it didn’t have a detonator 😉
After the hanger it was outside to take in the planes taxiing and inflight before a little snack and back on the road for a scrummy late lunch in Eketahuna. Thank you to everybody that came along and huge thank you to John B who connected us to the team at TVAL. Greatly appreciated.
