Doula pop quiz (for fun): Which type of support do you naturally give?

Pick one (no overthinking):
A) The Calm Anchor: you bring steadiness and help people breathe again
B) The Practical Fixer: you see what’s needed and quietly make it easier
C) The Big Encourager: you’re all reassurance and ‘YOU’VE GOT THIS’
D) The Information Translator: you help people understand options and feel confident

Now the fun part:
Tell us your letter AND one sentence why.

And if you’re already a doula (or in training), drop your best ‘in the moment’ phrase you say to clients. Let’s build a little script bank in the comments.

Today...I'm struggling and have to keep reminding myself that sometimes you just have to make your own sunshine.

Because real life? It doesn’t always hand you the perfect day on a silver platter.
Some days are messy, heavy, and full of “I’m just trying to get through.”

Making your own sunshine doesn’t mean pretending everything’s fine. It means choosing one small, steady thing that helps you keep going, like:
* taking a 10-minute walk to reset your head
* texting the friend who feels like exhaling
* doing the next right thing (not the whole to-do list)
* saying “no” without a three-paragraph explanation
* starting again… even if you started again yesterday

If today feels grey, let this be your reminder: you can still create warmth - one tiny choice at a time.

Today, I'm being gentle with myself and treating myself to some time to enjoy a hot coffee and a good book. Everything else can wait!

What’s one way you’re making your own sunshine this week?

Quick birth truth: early labour is usually for resting, eating, hydrating, and saving your energy — not rushing, overthinking, or trying to “push through.”
This is the phase where so many people think, “Is this it?” and their nervous system goes into high alert. A doula’s role here isn’t to diagnose labour or tell you what to do medically — it’s to help you stay calm, supported, and confident. We help you tune into patterns, protect your rest, use practical comfort tools, and know when to check in with your care provider based on your plan.

Okay, I want to do something fun (and get to know you properly).

If we were having a coffee together right now, what would you order?
A) Flat white / latte
B) Long black / espresso
C) Tea (what kind?)
D) Something iced
E) I’m not a caffeine person

And what’s ONE thing you’d tell me about your week?

I’ll reply to as many as I can because I genuinely love hearing what’s going on in your world.

If you’re craving work that actually matters - work that feels meaningful at the end of the day - doula training can be the beginning of something deeply fulfilling.

Doula work is steady, non‑judgmental support through one of life’s biggest transitions. And great training isn’t just inspiration… it’s practical skills you can use in real rooms with real families.

In Doula Beginnings training, you’ll learn:
• The basics of physiology and how labour typically unfolds (so you understand what you’re seeing)

• Comfort measures that genuinely help—movement, positioning, breath, touch, and creating a calm environment

• Communication skills that build trust (reflective listening, inclusive language, trauma-aware support)

• Ethics, scope of practice, and professional boundaries—so you feel confident and safe in your role

• The real-life side of being a doula: referrals, resources, and how to support without overstepping

Upcoming in-person workshop weeks:

* Melbourne: 6–12 April 2026
* New Zealand (Palmerston North): 29 June–5 July 2026
* Brisbane: 21–27 September 2026

If this is tugging at your heart, don’t ignore it. Message PURPOSE and I’ll send you a link to book a free, friendly chat to find out more.

You don’t have to be ready - you just have to be curious! We’d love to walk alongside you!

A good doula doesn’t “save” a birth. A good doula helps a family feel seen, informed, and supported in THEIR choices.

In our in-person birth workshops we spend time on communication, consent, advocacy, and how to support the birthing person while respecting the clinical team.

Comfort measures aren’t random. They’re physiology friendly. When you understand what helps labour progress, your support becomes more effective and less frantic.

In our in-person training we connect labour physiology to hands-on tools you can use immediately.

Let me know below, if you could master one comfort tool this month, what would it be?
