🎉 BIG NEWS FROM SLS! 🎉

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce our brand‑new initiative…

SLS @ UCOL

Starting this week, we’re officially operating a Community Hub right on the UCOL campus — and we couldn’t be more excited!

This new space gives our kiritaki a vibrant, inclusive base to access:

Group activities
Community programmes
Educational sessions
Peer support
1‑1 support worker sessions
—all within an educational, welcoming campus and wider community environment.

This is a huge step forward in creating more opportunities, more connection, and more choice for the people we support.

After bowls, we headed over to Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery — huge thanks to Bob for accommodating our team. Your insights were incredibly educational, and we really appreciate the time you gave us. Thanks also to the amazing volunteers who helped out.

Highlight of the day: we got to see a tuatara!

To wind down, we finished with a ride on the Palmerston North Esplanade Scenic Railway Inc, the perfect way to cap off an adventure‑filled weekend. We’re already excited for what’s coming next.

W‑H‑O‑A!!!
Another action‑packed SLS Experience weekend!

A massive thank‑you to Paul from the Hokowhitu Bowling Club for showing us the ropes and teaching us how to play bowls. We honestly thought it would be easy… but wow, it’s a full‑on workout. Our cardio definitely got tested yesterday. It was so much fun we didn’t even realise we were exercising at the same time!

Roll on next weekend — always something new to look forward to.

🏏 Great start to the Parafed Manawatu Para Smash programme!

We’re Rainbow Tick Accredited!

We’re proud to celebrate this milestone — and yes, we marked the occasion with cake!

The Rainbow Tick shows that our organisation is committed to being a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place for all our kaimahi and kiritaki. It reflects the work we do every day to ensure everyone feels respected and valued.

A big thank‑you to Petit Fours for the delicious cake and Eliza Creates NZ for the beautiful topper.
