Meet Crystal.

She likes running, trips to the beach and spending time with her friends and family. Crystal’s growing baby bump means another mini-member will be joining the team this year and we’re so excited!

Here’s some more fun facts about her.

Crystal, why physio? “Like Nichole, I loved sport and I liked the idea that I could help others with their injuries and help them get active again. I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) from AUT in 2016 and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (Acupuncture) in 2019. Over the past few years, I developed a strong interest in Pelvic Health and pursued a career in this area as I noticed the need amongst my own friends and family.

What have you been learning about lately?
As I am going through my own pregnancy journey I have been learning more about looking after yourself, listening to your body and keeping active during pregnancy, ways to keep core strong, modify normal exercises to be pregnancy friendly and learning when to let my body rest when needed. I am also doing a lot more preparation around preparing for labour including learning more about perineal massage to reduce chances of tearing in delivery and ways to prepare for postpartum to ensure the best recovery before getting back into exercise.

ACC are now covering some maternal birth related injuries! 🙌

What this means for you: if you have suffered a maternal birth injury since the 1st of October, you may be able to receive ACC funding. With the contract that we are on with ACC, the majority of your treatment cost will be funded.

The truth is we never want women to receive birth injuries and we are working hard with many of our mums to reduce these problems through the work we do.

However, we know that this is an issue for many of you.

If you would like support for your birth injury, we would love to be able to help you. 📞06 359 3367 or ✉️ info@nicholecobhamphysio.co.nz or visit our website to book online.

You don’t need a referral to book an appointment. If you don’t already have an ACC claim, we can easily lodge one for you.

Why is this little đź’© tip so important?

In a nutshell, if you ignore the urge, your stool sits in the re**um and can dry out. This can lead to constipation and other pelvic health problems.

Remember: your first urge is always your best urge!
