The Art of Breathing Program 🫁

Satya Yoga Studio is hosting the SKY Breathwork course, presented by The Art of Living Foundation, a structured breathwork program designed to support stress regulation, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing.

SKY Breathwork (Sudarshan Kriya Yoga) is a rhythmic breathing practice taught as part of The Art of Breathing program. It draws on specific breathing patterns to help calm the nervous system and support resilience in daily life.

The program is supported by 100+ independent studies, with research indicating:

an increase in immune cell count over time
a reduction in stress hormone (cortisol) levels
an increase in reported life satisfaction

This course is suitable for beginners and does not require prior experience with yoga or breathwork.

Sūrya Namaskāra सूर्य नमस्कार translates as “Salutation to the Sun,” honouring Sūrya, the solar deity — revered in the Vedic tradition as the source of light, life, and inner illumination.

The number 108 is considered significant across many yogic traditions — representing wholeness and completeness. Moving through 108 Surya Namaskars becomes a meditation in movement: a steady, breath-based practice that cultivates deep concentration and presence.

A warm welcome to Jules 🤎
We’re excited to have Jules join our teaching team at Satya. When you see her on the schedule, give her class a try. You’ll be guided with depth, wisdom and care.

Jules stepped onto the mat over 20 years ago. Since then, she has been on a path of self discovery of mind, body and soul through yoga and meditation. Travelling to India, she completed her Certificate in Yoga Education when she was 19, and later went on to become certified as a 200hr yoga teacher. Inspired by the yogic teachings and practices of equanimity of body and mind, Jules weaves challenge, spirituality and wisdom through her teaching in order to rejuvenate body, mind and soul.

Yin offers a slower, more meditative style of yoga that works deeply into the connective tissues, primarily the fascia. This practice supports mobility, circulation, and a calm nervous system - the perfect way to reset before the week ahead.

Classes run every second Sunday, 4:00–5:00pm, starting September 7th.

Santoṣāt anuttamaḥ sukha-lābhaḥ
“From contentment arises the highest happiness.”
Yogasūtra 2.42

To cultivate Santoṣa is to rest in samatva, an evenness of mind that is undisturbed by grasping or resistance. It is a steady acceptance of life as it unfolds. In this way we may orient ourselves in the present moment and release attachment to the outcomes of our actions.

This month’s meditation will explore a mantra practice that cultivates equanimity of mind and a sense of inner peace and fulfilment that arises through contentment.
