TVL Equine is a team of devoted equine veterinarians and support staff providing exceptional equine veterinary care throughout the Manawatu and beyond.

TVL Equine offers a comprehensive, dedicated equine service for racehorses, sport horses, pleasure horses, ponies and donkeys, both on-site and in-clinic. Our equine services include:

- Lameness and poor performance examinations
- Pre-purchase examinations

Our next gastroscopy day is next Wednesday, 15 October at our Awapuni clinic from 8:30am to 1pm.

Gastric ulcers are more common than many realise! Horses can show a variety of signs ranging from weight loss, girthiness, behavioural changes, poor performance and/or poor appetite.

Gastroscopy is the only way to accurately diagnose gastric ulcers in horses.

Our reproduction services are led by equine vet João who has extensive experience in artificial insemination, embryo transfer and semen collection and freezing. Breeding services can be performed either out of our Awapuni clinic or Sakura Park.

Have you always wondered if your horse has gastric ulcers? Telltale signs of ulcers include girthiness, grumpy, ill thrift, dull coat.

Winter is the best time to check and treat before commencing the competition season.

Philly is officially a wild horse handler! 🤠🐴

Along with Joao and Rochelle’s help they successfully castrated Splinter the wild Kaimanawa stallion. During Splinters surgery they were also able to check his teeth and confirm he was around 11 – 12 years old.

A massive thank you to Alex for bringing the team in a delicious morning tea! We are certainly looking forward to following along on their journey. 🥰💙

Summer was diagnosed with Cushings Disease (PPID) but with the help of Prascend it's been great to see her improvement over the years. 🥰🐴

"Prior to Summer being diagnosed with Cushings, I struggled with her long coat during the warmer months, she failed to get in foal and was becoming more lethargic with time. After starting Prascend there was a notable difference in her behaviour, she started to enjoy going to shows with the kids and jumping inhand with ease and loving going to the beach.

Summers coat has improved, and her general health has been good over the years on medication, including enjoying running around bucking and playing at 23 years old!"

Autumn is the best time to test your horse for Cushings Disease (PPID). If you suspect your horse may have PPID get in touch with our team.
