Kootuitui appreciates our collaboration with KiwiHarvest to support our community.

Support at the right time can change everything. 💚

Through our partnership with Kootuitui Trust, KiwiHarvest helps ensure good food reaches people who need it most, while organisations like Kootuitui wrap that support with care, guidance, and practical tools for the future.

Kootuitui Trust recently shared that one of their clients had been feeling the weight of rising living costs, relying on “buy now, pay later” services just to cover everyday essentials like kai. With six weeks of food support from KiwiHarvest, they were able to shift their focus, paying down debt instead of adding to it. Today, they’ve closed their Zip and Afterpay accounts and are now managing a small monthly surplus.

That’s the power of food support. Not just a meal for today, but breathing room for tomorrow.

Thank you to our partners and supporters who make stories like this possible. 💚

(Pie graph from Kootuitui Trust Annual Report 2026 shows the reasons for client hardship)

🌿🏡 The future of housing is already happening here in Papakura.

Waiata Shores has a small group of Low Carbon Smart Homes showing what’s possible.

What these sorts of homes can do if built for community:
⚡ Lower power and water bills for families
🌡️ Warmer, drier, healthier homes
🌍 Big reductions in climate impact
And even Kāinga Ora (our largest public housing provider) is building new homes to higher sustainability standards, meaning more efficient homes.

Kootuitui ki Papakura is helping lead the way by delivering warm, dry, healthy home retrofits locally, essential for people’s wellbeing, health, and finances.
In Papakura, we need to keep talking about these sorts of homes and ask for more of them - so that these sorts of houses become the new normal for everyone.
