🌿 Let's Talk About Health Advice on Social Media
As a naturopath, I see it every day—health trends going viral, miracle cures in your feed, and conflicting advice around every scroll. So how do you navigate it all?
Here's my honest take:
Social media can be an incredible tool for health education and community, but it's also a minefield of misinformation. Not all advice is created equal, and what works for one person's body may not work for yours.
My tips for smarter scrolling:
✨️Check credentials. Is this person qualified to give health advice? Look for actual training, not just a large following.
✨️Question quick fixes. Real health transformation takes time. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
✨️Notice the nuance. Be wary of anyone who speaks in absolutes. Good practitioners acknowledge that health is complex and individual.
✨️Consider the motive. Is this person educating or selling? Both can be valid, but know the difference.
✨️️Trust your gut. If something feels off or extreme, pause before trying it.
✨️Consult a professional. Social media can inspire questions, but your healthcare provider should help answer them for YOUR unique situation.
Remember, you are the expert on your own body. Social media can be part of your wellness journey, but it shouldn't be the whole map.
