I also acknowledge my Walsh, Irish & English ancestry. In the early 60's, my parents came to Mt Maunganui to get married. I was born & raised there. As a teenager, I lived on our whenua in Whakakī (Nth of Wairoa) where I connected with my Kuia, on a spiritual level, who was the healer there. However, work life soon took over. After 21 years working on construction sites, I decided to study at Toi Ohomai in 2006 to become a Personal Trainer. I then worked there for 15 years. I bring these skills forward to assist people in gaining the best outcome. In 2017, I finally acknowledged the consistent calls from my Kuia (Spiritually) to start learning rongoā māori. Firstly, with Jolie Davis & then with Atarangi Murupaenga. Their guidance towards my growth & development within the traditional Māori healing teachings has been life changing on all levels of being. It has been fast, intense & challenging at times however, necessary. The learning is continuous & for life! Faith & trust in my pathway led to the opening of:
TE AO MĀRAMA TRADITIONAL MĀORI BODYWORK
We are the healers of ourselves! Life's challenges can cloud this realization. At times we need assistance to help facilitate this process to remember & reconnect to the true essence of who we are. Just like the butterfly, without the struggle & fight through adversity, it would not be able to build the strength needed to break out of the darkness & into the light. A transformative process to freedom of being. Tools of guidance, education, support, advice are provided to empower & uplift until people are ready to take over the reins of healing for themselves. Self-responsible, self-accountable. It all starts with a choice! Healing is not a destination; it is a way of being. We need to be shapeshifters that adapt & change with the flow of life. To regularly practice self-honouring. SERVICES.....

ROMIROMI / MIRIMIRI / WHITIWHITIKŌRERO:
Traditional Maaori bodywork can help to release stress, tension & trauma held deep within the body at a cellular level that has accumulated through life's experiences. The movement is slow to get the depth needed for release to take place. It’s not about causing pain; it’s extracting pain to awaken the body, mind & spirit. To remember who you are, as a spiritual being having a physical experience. MAHI RAAKAU - SELF HELP/HEALING
One of the traditional practices of our Traditional Māori Healing Arts. Working the body with a Raakau (stick). The use of the he Raakau will help people discover the places and parts of the body that are challenged. It will always move the user to a deeper level of awareness of self that may have been forgotten. The feet are considered the gateway to the body, so therefore must be worked on first. To open the body up, ignite the internal organs and to instantly bring people into the here & now. A sequence is used to work sections of the feet which correspond to sections of the torso. The movement is slow to get the depth needed to release stored tension, stress & trauma. The work can trigger memories, injuries, past life patterns. It’s not about causing pain; it’s about awakening the body, mind & spirit. Once the feet have been opened, a larger Rākau is used to work the torso in sections. Wānanga are held bi-monthly at the Welcome Bay Community Centre, Tauranga. Or private groups by arrangement. ACC-REGISTERED RONGOĀ MĀORI SERVICE:

What is Mahi Rākau?.....

The use of the Raakau, in all its ways and means, is a tool to help people discover the places and parts of the body that are challenged. It will always move the user to some level of understanding and knowing of oneself that may have been forgotten or thought one lacked.
The feet are considered the gateway to the body and must be worked on first to ignite the internal organs and to instantly bring people into the here & now.

The movement is slow to get the depth needed to release stored tension, stress & trauma. The work may trigger memories, injuries, past life patterns. It’s not about causing pain; it’s about awakening the Tinana (body), Hinengaro (mind) & Wairua (spirit).

♻️THE WORDS I WEAR LIVE WITHIN ME. 💞

I heard thousands of phrases placed in my mind.
Words & beliefs that were not mine.
Worn like a jacket, worn like a name.
Spoken so often they started to feel the same.

Every line repeated left inside, built a rhythm & pattern that wasn't mine.
Then I got still & felt the truth there.
I was becoming the words I wear.....

Now I choose to see. Now I choose with care. Now I choose the words I wear.
My inner world a path appears, I rise now & choose the words I wear....

The words I wear, they shape my way.
They light the path I walk each day.
I choose the sound that carries me there.
I rise through the words I wear....

Now when I walk there's a change in my pace.
More calm in my chest, more light in my face.
I feel more open, I feel more free.
The language within is teaching me....

It starts within, it starts with the voice.
It starts with the feeling behind every choice.
One breath, one word, one life made clear.
A better world begins in here.

I rise through the words I wear!

"E ngaki ana a mua, e tōtō mai ana a muri"
First clear the weeds, then plant.

05/04/2026

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself.
For many, this relationship has been disrupted by adversity.
In order to survive and cope with the pain held within the body, a disconnection occurs.
We become busy being busy—avoiding, distracting—because the truth found in stillness can feel too painful to face and feel.
Negative words begin to swirl within the constant chatter of an overthinking mind, often fuelled by fear.
Only you truly know what that inner dialogue sounds like.
Catch it when it turns ugly, and consciously choose to shift the language into something that enhances your mana.
Healing asks that you lead with compassion for all that you have been through.
It is about rebuilding a positive, healthy, and supportive relationship between you and your tinana.
A strong theme recently has been encouraging people to reconnect with their puku after the initial release through Romiromi.
For many, this is a place that holds mamae, and therefore carries a strained or negative relationship with the tinana.
Gently mirimiri your puku, as you would knead parāoa.
Be intentional with your words as you do—this is how you begin to reconnect.
You are coaching yourself into becoming the best version of who you are.
This is a journey of remembrance, reclamation, and cultivation.
The words you speak live within you—and you will rise through the words you choose to wear.

PS: This is for those who resonate with it. If it doesn’t, that’s okay.

Things you tolerated for months?
You can’t anymore.

It’s clarity.

2️⃣ 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙐𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙁𝙞𝙩.
Jobs. Roles. Conversations.
They feel tight now.

3️⃣ 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝘾𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

More truth.

🦋A decision has been made to no longer take on any more ACC Rongoā kiritaki (clients) until further notice.

🦋I am at full capacity & beyond! I will continue with those already in my care & on the current waitlist.

🦋Casuals (non-ACC) will continue to slide in where cancellations open up.

🦋On a personal level, it's also about safe guarding my energy, my boundaries & making sure the energy I offer is of a rich sustenance that is clear & clean.

🦋There is an end goal I am aiming for so I ask for patience as I move forward.

👀SPACES ARE NOW FULL. BUT A WAITLIST WILL START IN CASE OF CANCELLATIONS.

A traditional Māori healing art. Self-help/Self-Healing.

Our Bi-monthly practice of Mahi Raakau is on THIS month - FEBRUARY! FEET ONLY!
Registrations are now open. But firstly.....

It has been an incredibly challenging time for us here in Tauranga Moana with the landslides & loss of lives. My aroha, whakaaro, and karakia are with all the whānau who have lost loved ones, and with those who have been deeply affected by these experiences. I also send my aroha to the hapori (communities) across Aotearoa who have been impacted by the recent extreme weather events.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui! 💚💛

With that said, many may feel the pull even more to enter a space of self-healing at this time with guidance & support as you do.

PART 3/3
NEW YEARS EVE AFFIRMATION.

Under the light of the last night of 2025, I release the weight of this year with gratitude and grace. I stand in the stillness with courage, clarity and an open heart. What no longer serves me melts away like frost in sunlight. I claim my strength, my wisdom and my inner fire. I step into the coming year renewed, restored and rising.
I am aligned, I am worthy and I welcome the blessings ahead.
So it is!
