We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Sean Kelly (Pacific 7) on the 8th December 2025. 😭

Working alongside Sean on the Samoa HMNZS Manawanui salvage project was a privilege. Sean brought with him an extraordinary depth of knowledge in all things marine — knowledge earned through decades of experience, and integrity. His expertise alone leaves a significant gap in the maritime industry.

But beyond the work, Sean was a trusted colleague and a true friend. Someone you could rely on, learn from, and share a laugh with when the job was done. He will be sorely missed by so many — family, friends, and colleagues across the globe.

Our final wish for Sean is that he now knows just how many lives he touched, how many supporters he had, and how far his influence reached — across oceans near and far.

May he find peace, fair winds and calm seas.❤️

From Papamoa’s sunlit shore,
A compact, trusty craft,
She made the long road southward—
A boat with spirit vast.

At just over six metres stem to stern,
She’s modest, built for grit,
A Fyran made for real work,
Where bigger boats won’t fit.

Now resting in the Bluff sea breeze,
Where southern waters brew,

🚤 New Vessel for the Fleet – “SOUTHERN BLUE” 🌊

We’re excited to introduce SOUTHERN BLUE, our newly acquired Fyran 620, which has just joined the Bay Underwater Services fleet.

After a quick refurbishment and equipment upgrade to meet Maritime New Zealand requirements, this versatile vessel is now ready for work — and has made the long journey from Papamoa down to Bluff to join our Southern team.

A big thanks to everyone involved in the prep, compliance, and delivery. Another step forward in strengthening our capability across Aotearoa. 💪⚓️

⚓ Pier Refurbishment — Protecting Infrastructure Below the Waterline 🌊

Our Southern Lads are busy on another pier refurbishment project, this time installing Denso Pile Casings to strengthen and protect the existing piles.

This system provides long-term corrosion prevention and structural reinforcement — extending the life of marine assets exposed to harsh conditions.

There are several critical steps involved in the Denso system, and our commercial diving team are accredited installation experts, ensuring every project is completed to the highest standard of safety and quality.

Another solid effort from the team keeping our coastal infrastructure strong 💪

Long days, unpredictable conditions, and time spent away from home and family come with the territory. The work can be tough, dirty, and demanding — but it’s also rewarding, full of challenge, and constantly evolving.

Every project brings new environments to adapt to and lessons to learn. From calm harbours to deep reservoir inspections, our team takes the good jobs with the bad, always with the same professionalism and pride in what we do.

💧 Keeping the Power Flowing — Hydro Dam Maintenance by Our North Island Team ⚡️

Our North Island commercial diving team has been hard at work clearing debris from a hydro dam to help it operate more efficiently and safely.

Removing built-up material around the intake and infrastructure is an essential part of maintaining optimal water flow, reducing stress on equipment, and ensuring maximum power generation.

It’s a tough job — often in challenging conditions — but our divers take pride in knowing their work directly supports clean, renewable energy for communities across Aotearoa.
