Welcome back to Wednesday Wellness Updates

This week we have four lovely excerpts from emails and texts we've received. Enjoy!

* I wore a bathing suit at the beach today for the first time in over 15 years. I still have quite a way to go, but being 22 kg lighter has made such a difference to my self confidence - not to mention my mobility! - GH, Bucklands Beach

* What have I learned since joining Miraculoss? Not to eat sugar! Every time I indulge my body sends me a very clear reprimand. My knee pain comes surging back and my weight jumps up by over 2 kilos overnight! Without sugar I'm pain free and I can easily maintain my new weight. - SJ, Wanganui

* After years of suffering with acid reflux, I'm finally free of it. The combination of weight loss, the change in my diet and taking Betaine with meals has worked a treat. Yay! This is a unexpected but much welcome bonus to my 12 kg weight loss!
- Sandra B, Taupo

* Two sizes down in four weeks and I feel great! Thank you Mirculoss. You've more than delivered on your promise! - Helen W, Auckland

The US food pyramid has finally been flipped — and it’s a big win for metabolic health 🌿

For decades, we were told to base our diet on grains while limiting protein and fats. The result? Rising blood sugar issues, inflammation, and weight struggles.

Science now confirms what many bodies have been telling us all along:
✔ Protein supports stable energy
✔ Healthy fats nourish cells
✔ Refined grains and sugar drive insulin resistance

We’re thrilled to see official guidelines finally reflect real evidence.

This is me wearing a swimsuit in public!
It’s been over 15 years since I was brave enough to do this!

I still have quite a way to go, but being 22 kg lighter has made such a difference to my self confidence - not to mention my mobility and balance!

Thank you Miraculoss. I'm enjoying life again :-)

* My doctor shared my latest blood test results with me today and I was delighted, but not as surprised as she was. Everything is now in the normal range! After being with Miraculoss for just 8 weeks I'm no longer on any medication. She said "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!" Thank you Miraculoss. - MR Wanganui

* No joint pain, no pain meds, and I'm sleeping through the night for the first time in ages. All this in a few short weeks! AL - Wanaka

* I feel amazing, I'm so glad I did it now, and not kept putting it off. I'm already 15kg down and still losing. SB - Tasmania

Three easy steps to reduce your sugar intake:

1. Read food labels!

Sugar is everywhere! You’ll find it in sauces, meat and dairy products, beverages and baked goods. So, make sure you read the labels and know what you are buying (and eating). An easy rule of thumb is - if it’s got an ingredients list it’s highly likely to have some bad stuff in it that you’d be better off without!

2. Replace sweet treats with fresh fruit or berries

After a week or so your taste buds will change and you’ll begin noticing just how much sweetness is naturally occurring in fresh fruit and vegetables. Frozen berries can be a delicious dessert or make beautiful additions to refreshing sugar free summer drinks!

3. Make your own food!

If you’re serious about avoiding added sugar you’ll need to develop a few skills in the kitchen. To help you with this, we’ve created the delicious and nutritious Harvest Pantry range of baking mixes, seasonings, sauces and condiments.

Check it out on the link below and start making your own healthy treats with a fraction of the time spent sourcing and preparing ingredients! https://bit.ly/3C6HGNW

And here's the final instalment...

No-bake Chocolate Fruit & Nut Slice - notes and nutritional information :-)

What I love about this recipe is that it’s packed full of protein and good fats to ward off sugar cravings and keep you feeling full for hours! This is the perfect go-to for afternoon energy slumps and will sustain you until dinnertime without triggering cravings for junk food!

Here are the notes on *Nuts, **Cacao and ***Stevia to help you get the most out of this recipe:

NOTES:
*Nuts: I used raw cashews and almonds as they are high in protein but peanuts would work well too as they are also high in protein, but will provide a different flavour profile. When using nuts, make sure they are fresh.

The oils in nuts can become rancid very easily - especially during periods of warmer weather. For maximum freshness and sweetness, store them in your freezer.

**Raw Cacao: Can be substituted with cocoa powder, but keep in mind that cocoa is made by roasting cacao beans and by definition is no longer a raw product and often involves the loss of important bioactive compounds making it nutritionally inferior.

***Stevia may be used as a substitute for pure monk fruit juice powder, but please avoid it if you are pregnant, or wanting to become pregnant, or you have any s*x hormone imbalances.

Some studies suggest high doses might lower testosterone and reduce female fertility. Concerns arise from steviol glycosides' steroid-like structure, potentially interfering with hormone receptors.

This may also have an impact on the hormonal link to weight gain. If using stevia, use the amount needed to replace 1 cup of sugar.

No-bake Chocolate Fruit & Nut Slice

Super easy to make, highly nutritious with flexible ingredients.

You will need:
1½ cups nuts (any nuts you prefer)
1 cup desiccated coconut
¾ cup sunflower seeds
¾ cup coconut oil (melted)
½ cup dried fruit (use a little more fruit if you are making this for those with a very sweet tooth)
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder (or cocoa)
2 teaspoons of pure monk fruit juice powder (or substitute with ***stevia but please read notes)
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract

Method
Melt the coconut oil and set aside
Toast the sunflower seeds in a hot dry pan while stirring for about 5 minutes or until light brown - this step is optional, but adds depth of flavour.
Chop nuts and sunflower seeds in a food processor or blender (or using a sharp knife) into small to medium sized pieces
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir well
Press firmly into a baking paper lined square tin and refrigerate until set
Cut into squares and store in the fridge

Makes 25 -36 squares depending on size.

Look what I made! It’s delicious AND healthy!

As part of our reduce/eliminate sugar theme for January, I thought I’d share this with you.

Recently I was looking for healthy alternatives to old fashioned chocolate crackles - reminiscent of my sugar laden childhood! My Mum still makes these (bless her) and while staying with her recently I got to thinking about creating something similar that I could enjoy eating.

What I loved about chocolate crackles was the crunch, and the chocolatey, rich (fatty) sweetness, which, in the original recipe, is achieved by using rice bubbles, icing sugar and cremelta (hydrogenised coconut oil) all highly processed and very toxic.

Processed sugar (AKA table sugar) and hydrogenised fats or oils are highly inflammatory and should be completely avoided. This is especially important for those with blood sugar imbalances and/or any inflammatory conditions (including obesity).

I will go into more details about the toxicity of ultra-processed food ingredients in future posts - but needless to say, if you’re using ultra-processed ingredients at home, you are in fact creating ultra processed food!

So, after a few experiments I created something healthy (and very easy to make) that still ticks all the pleasure boxes but also packs a powerful nutritional punch. My mantra is “If I’m going to eat it, it must nourish my cells and help my body heal - not cause harm!”

Recipe to follow in my next post…

Feeling frustrated by your weight and how it's affecting your life?
Wondering if you'll ever find that elusive solution?

Read this wonderful message we've just recieved from a delighted client and be inspired. :-)

"When I came to Miraculoss I was at the end of my tether. I had no confidence left, thinking that I could never be any other weight or person than I was at that time. I had given up thinking about possibilities for myself in this lifetime. I had surrendered myself to having to be OK with barely surviving one day at a time.

I had been about 25 kg overweight for decades. With arthritis in my body, my knees and hips were so sore which made working life and home life with a sporty husband difficult. Miraculoss was a last ditch attempt at losing some weight and rebuilding my life quality and self belief.

I found Miraculoss by chance. But the programme and care I experienced has been anything but left to chance. I was so well informed from the outset and the regular texts and face to face sessions provided more than just educational and technical support - far from it. For me the social and emotional support from the holistic approach was the game changer.

To date I have lost 12.5 kg in 5 weeks and my former body from before children (and life happening) is emerging. I can now celebrate, smile and look to the future without pain, or pain medication affecting my stomach.

I am enjoying my weightloss journey, and learning about my body and health through the Miraculoss tuition sessions and conversations with my awesome personal coach. What a team you are guys.

Love ya and thank you. XX

DELICIOUS RAW JAM - refined sugar free!

This jam can be made with any type of frozen or fresh berry, and could even be made with fresh feijoas, tamarillos, plums or cherries. The secret ingredient in this condiment is the super nutritious chia seeds which absorb the water to give a jelly/jam like consistency. It can also be used as a healthy topping on yoghurt, crepes or other low sugar desserts (see our Harvest Pantry product range)!

Enjoy!

Ingredients
2 cups of frozen or fresh fruit or berries
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp pure monk fruit juice powder (or a sugar free version) OR 2 Tbsp honey

How to make
1. Briefly pulse the berries/fruit, water and monk fruit juice powder (or honey if using) in a food processor or blender to get the juices going. Or crush with a potato masher or fork.
2. Transfer to a small glass jar. Add the chia seeds, and mix well making sure they are well incorporated into the pulp.
3. Place in the fridge for an hour or so to set.

NB:The refined sugar in used in traditional jams acts as a preservative. Because this jam contains no refined sugar it must be stored in the fridge. If you use monk fruit juice powder as your sweetener you will need to use it within a few days, but if you have used honey (which is naturally antimicrobial) it may last up to 2-3 weeks in the fridge. My suggestion is you freeze it in icecube trays and defrost as required.

If using stone fruit or blueberries you may like to add a sueeze of lemon juice to bring up the acidity and create a more tangy flavour!

Having trouble giving up sweet treats? 🍫

Here’s a delicious dessert that feels indulgent but contains no refined sugar — just a small touch of honey.

✨ High-Protein Chocolate Mousse (serves 2) ✨

You’ll need:
• 125g regular cottage cheese (not low-fat)
• 5 Tbsp fresh cream
• 4 tsp raw cacao powder
• 1 tsp pure monk fruit juice powder (a natural, calorie-free sweetener)
• ½ tsp honey
• Berries, to serve

Method:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and blend on high speed using a stick blender or similar until smooth and creamy.
Divide into two jars or serving dishes. Serve immediately or refrigerate until needed.

This yummy, nutrient-dense dessert provides approximately 8g protein, 15g fat, and only 6g total sugars per serve (including lactose), helping you feel nourished and satisfied for hours.

Even better, it delivers valuable antioxidants and essential minerals like magnesium, iron, and zinc, supporting your immune and nervous systems.
