Meet Winston! 🐾

Sweet Winston visited us after injuring his elbow and was diagnosed with an olecranon physis fracture. Our surgeon carefully realigned the broken bone and used small pins and a special tension band technique to securely hold everything in place while it heals.

We've seen Winston back recently for his last post surgery check, and he has been recovering well!

The AOW team loved having Winston in clinic - he was so smoochy and full of cuddles 🥰

Meet Simba 🐾

Simba recently underwent bilateral elbow arthroscopy to help relieve pain and improve his mobility.

Using a small camera, each elbow was carefully evaluated. Damaged and inflamed tissue was removed (arthroscopic debridement), and an abnormal portion of bone in the joint was partially removed (subtotal coronoidectomy). This procedure helps decrease discomfort, improve range of motion, and slow the progression of arthritis.

Wishing you all the best for your recovery Simba! 🥰

A TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) is a commonly performed surgery to treat cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in dogs. Understanding the surgery and what to expect during the recovery period can help you feel confident and well prepared to support your dog after their operation.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive following TPLO surgery. If you need any additional guidance, our wonderful team is always here to help! 🖤💛

Meet Exodia! 🐾

Exodia came to AOW in early October for her TPLO surgery. We saw her again last week for her post-op X-rays, and her TPLO recovery is looking great! She also kept sneaking under the blankets during her visit, which made getting photos quite the challenge 😅.

Wishing you all the best as you continue to heal, Exodia! 🥰

Post-Surgery Care Reminder!!
We know keeping your pet quiet after surgery can be tough, but it’s the best way to help them heal quickly and comfortably. 🖤 Their recovery relies on strict rest and limited movement—running, slipping, or jumping can damage the repair and slow healing.

✅ Place them in a crate or a small, secure room (like the laundry) with non-slip flooring and no furniture they can climb on.
✅ When they’re out for toileting or brief breaks, always keep them on a lead—a harness is ideal.

A little extra caution now leads to a smoother, safer recovery later. 💛
