🖤 MOTHERHOOD 🖤

Here’s a little dose of real motherhood for you all - Today Emily and I finally managed to make our appointment for some portrait photos to update the website. We had to postpone this appointment/change dates 6 times! 🤣😅😬 Due to schedules, sickness etc. (Big thanks to Emma for being so patient and flexible!)
We arrive and our littlest lady has 💩 our littlest Dude has zero interest in taking part in photos at all (spot him to the side of this pic).
Our oldest Dude doesn’t like to smile 🙃

Photos go well and we pay our kids in lollies for their compliance and know we will regret that later when the sugar kicks in. 🤪

We spend too long chatting at the cars that the littlest Dude needs to p*e - doesn’t quite make it to the tree in time and has to go home butt naked.

We try to catch up on life and have a moment as we haven’t made a yoga/coffee date together yet - all while 5 sets of nosey listening ears sneak as many snacks as they can between opportunities to interrupt us. 😅

And this is The Real Motherhood. 🖤 we will always be real, we will always be raw and I don’t think there’s a season or part of Motherhood we haven’t got the t-shirt for yet. So remember - if you are joining the parenthood soon - come along to our Antenatal classes and whether you are a new Māma or a seasoned Māma there is always a spot for you and your Bub at Mums & Bubs classes! 🖤

This weekend while Emily taught an awesome antenatal class, this Mama and sponsored the coolest dude hitting the track for his first race weekend in his very own kart!

Just another lesson in motherhood as I am now learning the ins and outs of running a kart and a future formula one driver! But so proud of my boy and so glad to be able to support him (and his sissy) in all their dreams! Aaand another great example of it taking a village as we have the most amazing people supporting us while we chase these dreams!

Just a lil class today - must be winter!

But yet another wonderful visit from the amazing Bridget

Always great to have a chat about our bodies post pregnancy and childbirth and our babies as they have quite the journey to get earth-side too!

Today we were lucky to have the lovely Sarah from join us to share her infant massage classes and give us a little demo!
As always Sarah creates a sense of calm and teaches us some great techniques for soothing our babes!

🖤🖤🖤🖤Today was a special lil day for The Real Motherhood! We started our 30th set of Antenatal classes 🥰🥰 which equates to 132 classes teaching and empowering the best parents on the Coast all about labour, birth and early parenting! 🖤 How lucky are we to be a part of such a special and sacred journey full of love, challenges that make us strong and cute lil squishy babes. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of that 30 so far and I can’t wait to meet and support everyone who’s in for the next 30 🥳🖤

🖤 Last night I mixed it up a little from our usual transition to parenting content…

A few months ago a local Dad started a weekly meet up for our at risk youth to support them through their current age/stage and help them engage in different pathways and make good choices. I offered to come talk about safe s*x - teaching them more about how the reproductive system and ovulation works in hopes it helps them avoid teen pregnancy (some grown adults don’t even realise this stuff) but as Journee and I got talking we realised we could include a whole lot more so it evolved. I made a human board game where the boys partnered up to chase the finish line and as they did they learnt about;
- The law around s*x
- Consent and the opposite of consent
- Reality v P**n
- Nudes - being responsible if sent content.
- Contraception/Ovulation
- Pregnancy - everyones keen to avoid that so young 🥳
- We even tried to learn a little about oxytocin the love hormone and how they should be caring s*xual partners. If & when they have it. The word love freaked them out - but TLC is their goal.
And of course RESPECT! 🥰

I was skeptical how it would go - massive risk trying to teach teenagers this kind of thing! But I feel we had a great night, good engagement, great questions and I feel they all took something away (even if it was just chocolates)

At the end the boys performed 2 haka for me as a thank you and it was such a meaningful way to end our mahi for the night! 🖤

Last week we had our mate Bruce the Carseat Dude join us again for another class on car seat safety. Bruce has so much knowledge on keeping our little ones safe in cars and which car seats are going to be the best option for each Whānau.
A photo also popped up of Bruces first class with us 4 years ago! How lucky are we to have such ongoing support from some amazing locals! Thank you Bruce!

Sometimes we aren’t ready to finish at the end of the term and thats okay …here’s Simone & Ezras story! 🥰

Simone and Ezra here, many of you may have met us over the past YEAR in class 💕 we joined the real motherhood in April/may of 2024 when Ezra was just a wee 4 month old gearing up for a big surgery! I was struggling a bit with everything mentally and felt I didn’t have anyone to talk to that was also going through the ups and downs of a newborn/infant at the same time as I was, until I joined Jaydies class 💕 we have both made so many wonderful friends within this year that we’ve been coming and going to class every Monday had really become a huge part of my first year of parenthood! I’ve been educated on so many different topics, I’ve felt understood and listened to by everyone 💕 Ezra absolutely has had the biggest blast every time we’re there and I know he’s going to miss everyone and the environment so much! (Just like me 🥹) I’m sure we will pop in from time to time but for now our journey with the real motherhood has come to its end and yes there have been tears 🙈 WE APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU’VE DONE FOR US AND THAT YOU DO FOR EVERYONE THAT COMES THROUGH 💕 Maybe our next chapter will be Ezra coming back to the centre after winter as a daycare kid instead 🙈🥹 thank you so so much, lots of love from the 2 that couldn’t let go after term 1 🙈🤣💕
